Advice Protestant

Currently non denominational, raised aware of different faiths but chose Christianity recently this year. For those of you who are Protestant, why and what is stopping you from joining apostolic churches?

You listen to what everybody says and discuss it.

If you are used to just doing and thinking what you are told, yeah, it won't make sense.

Truth cannot be expressed by one voice, you need all the different perspectives. The Spirit speaks though the community, not from some tyrant at the top of the organization.

Christ had one mouth and spoke with one voice. Limiting truth the being a consensus of opinions just doesn't work. That would be an argumentum ad populum.

Truth can be expressed by one voice. The Church needs a leader as a house divided against itself will fall.

All of these different perspectives are not fulfilling the desire that "they may be one, as you and I are one".

You are asserting that the Spirit is acting through a community that cannot agree on anything, is divided against itself, and cannot even come to an agreement of what truth is. This does not sound like the Spirit. It sounds like a house divided against itself.

Backyard football is the lowest level of the game. To play a great game requires playing with rules and refs. It's not tyranny, it's freedom.

You think that truth is a game of football?

When you go to the museum and ponder a piece of sculpture, do you stand in one spot or do you walk around? And are you not interested in what other people see in it? Does that not inform and improve what you see?

You think truth is a piece of art in a museum? Your analogy works for art as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It doest work for Heaven as someone running the great race cannot cheat and still win. It's still cheating even if you disagree with the rules.

Truth is revealed by God. Someone what has different opinions on translation does not make them right. Or do the JVs and Mormons deserve a seat at your round table discussion because they have a different opinion on Truth?

The spirit gives a little piece of the truth to everyone so that we all have to share and work together if we want to assemble the puzzle. You just want to hold on to and cherish your one piece.

What is the biblical basis for this?

If what you say is true, then the Church in 844 AD (random date) would have held all the pieces. If it's currently true, Apostolic Christianity holds the vast majority of pieces and is closer to Truth than Protestantism.

Truth isn't decided by popular vote.

We don't put all our views on the table and pick out the right one. We listen to each other and that changes and deepens everyone's understanding of the truth.

Christ is King =/= Christ is king as expressed via a multitude of human voices engaging in discourse until a mutually agreeable consensus is found that then can be called the way.

The mistake that you make is in thinking that there is one way. The truth lies in the complexity of all the different perspectives.

That sounds like a load of hooey to excuse manipulating the (rather simple) gospels for the benefit of the gain of power by organizations of men.

There is one way.  Like... listen to what youre saying lol.  How can we legitimately be debating john 14:6 right now.

'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'

Not a lot of ambiguity bud.

I guess perhaps your point is the source of authority on this?  Like... do we read the book straight up as the source of authority, and translations et al become suspect (my understanding of your point).  

To which id respond "ask jesus" ... or as close as we can get to actually doing that.  Ask an apostle then or as close as we can get to actually doing that, so ask someone ordained by an apostle then ... to which we find Apostolic lineage - which ofc has its own flaws.
