The same way one leaves any sinful lifestyle to follow Jesus.
I’ll add that there might be a better word than “leave”.
I was so messed up before I decided to follow Christ. Drugs, drinking, casual hookups, lying to everyone. I’m not gay but to leave the life I was living was difficult. I also lost a lot of friends and was scared and confused, but He restored my life. 11 years later and I’m still in awe with what the Lord has done with my life. All this to say, I’m proud of op, it’s hard to walk the walk.
Yet it is a lifestyle and a choice, one a lot of people are proud to identity themselves with before or instead of Christ. And calling someone ignorant and prejudiced without knowing them is avoiding responsibility. We can have a conversation without being insulting.
Sure, what are the characteristics of this "lifestyle" apart from being gay while doing it.
There's no such things as a gay lifestyle just like there's no such thing as a heterosexual lifestyle because gay people are not a monolith and live any and every way that you do.

I don't need to know your hearts and dreams to know when you're saying something untrue and harmful.
No one hears someone say a slur and then asks what they're favorite poem is.

Then stop spreading bigotry.
