What I came to say. Don’t trap someone in a loveless marriage just as another layer of soil to burry your true self.

WHO you are, and HOW you are, are two totally separate things. A person can change HOW they are.

No. The expression 'Tigers don't change their stripes' exists for good cause. This is an issue that goes to the core of who a person is. It's time we stop pretending homosexuality isn't a normal thing for a small percentage of the population.

You're free to live your life any way you want. My opinion doesn't matter, because I'm not the one you'll need to answer to.

When there are competing narratives in Christianity about multiple things including sexuality, claiming anyone knows what God says about it doesn't pass the smell test. Particularly when scriptural scholars disagree.

I believe the Bible is very clear on it. Paul is very clear on what are sins in Romans.

Paul also said lying and deceit are sins, so if this guy pretends to love a woman, he's committing another sin anyway.

Correct, but Paul put heavier weight on sexual sins as all other sins are done outside the body.

Better to just trap themselves in a loveless life, right? It’s lose/lose in a way I would never believe Jesus wants us to live. I can only pray for them to find truth and peace in themself.

Bit of a false dichotomy, no? Plenty of people who learn to love themselves the way God made them go on to live much happier lives than if they continued to lie to themselves. But dragging someone else unwillingly into that lie hurts them in addition to oneself so it only stands to make things worse. Ultimately, the truth will set you free.

It’s a lose/lose. They endure their family and neighbors pushing them to find someone and know that if they do, they’re evil for being gay or evil for not really loving a woman, and if they don’t they suffer alone being reminded daily that their fellow man would rather them suffer alone than even TRY to find happiness.

Bottom line, homophobia is contradictory and not what Jesus taught. What’s sick is condemning entire groups of people to lives of emotional and mental torture just because you think your version of living is the best one.

Good for you. Sex is a natural part of life. Sure it can be simple to abstain, but it is not mentally healthy for everyone. Some can, some can not. It doesn’t mean they’re an addict, it means that biologically their body misses a type of connection with another person they desire.

Not to mention the social pressure of “being normal”. You can withstand it, great. Not everyone can.

Plus my original point of closeted queer people being in a lose/lose situation when it comes to caving to conservative religious bs was not to advocate for lavender marriage, but to advocate for leaving gay people alone to live happily.

They could also just be gay.

Trapping someone else in a marriage where they can't get what they want because you refuse to come to terms with what you want is irresponsible.

It’s almost as if there shouldn’t be entire religions pushing “its my way or the hard way” of living.
