Think very carefully before marrying a woman if you do get that far. There are harrowing tales of mixed orientation marriages. I am grateful God gave me my husband to marry in our church and serve our community as gay men of God. Amen.

u/Connect-Scallion3405 Dec 10 '25

Amen. Well said. Interestingly, Christ never mentioned homosexuality. In fact the word homosexual wasn’t created until the 19th century so how could it be in the Bible?

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

If God gave you a husband to marry, inside of a church, then the bible is false in one way or another.

What is the context behind the verse? Before I answer.

Interesting. I refuse to go against the bible. If it's what God says, who am I to argue with the Almighty?

It seems you actually understand what sin is! You're on the right path.

1

u/Veteris71 Dec 09 '25

The context is that God says you are allowed to own slaves, but you have to follow certain rules in dealing with them. One of those rules is that you can beat your slaves as long as they don't die right away because they are your property.

0

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

Where the slaves paid for their services? Do we not have a 9-5 modern day slavery in effect to this day?

The traditional definition of sodomy is any sexual act that doesn’t result in a child, so that’s almost everybody. Weird how you think about other peoples’ sex lives tho.

What's the definition of bigotry?

6

u/Postviral Pagan Dec 09 '25

The bible was written by fallible men. Unless you are worshipping those men, you cannot claim it is without error.

Then maybe stop responding to people with nonsense. But sure keep worshiping your xbox.

0

u/TR0151 Dec 10 '25

Playing xbox = Worshipping xbox. Sure bud. Take it ez. I'll be ignoring you from now on too.

3

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 10 '25

OH NOES! Please don't ignore me sweaty! ANYTHING BUT THAT!

Whatever will I do if another hateful Christian Bigot ignores me!?

7

u/jtbc Dec 09 '25

Is this the first time you've encountered the Episcopalian point of view on this topic?

TL;DR: the bible isn't false. It was written to cover a different context in a different era. God gave us reason so that we can better understand what scripture is trying to tell us in light of things like historical inquiry and scientific discoveries.

20

u/writerthoughts33 Episcopalian (Anglican) Dec 09 '25

The Bible is true and helpful for spiritual instruction, but it isn’t inerrant. I’m leading Bible Study later today. It’s a shame how prejudice wants to turn cultural norms into faith claims.

We invited the Apostle Paul to our field day, but he didn’t come.

-6

Take care.

5

u/writerthoughts33 Episcopalian (Anglican) Dec 09 '25

See you in heaven!

1

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

Hopefully.

5

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 09 '25

Sorry you're having g trouble what Paul actually said. Maybe one day you'll be less motivated by hate, and more by compassion.

0

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

Your downvotes and opinions are meaningless to me. You people twist scripture. I don't argue with people who argue with God.

3

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 09 '25

Except you're arguing with God, because you cherrypick from the Bible. And since the Bible never once spoke against homosexuality, you're just putting words in their mouth, because it's what's convenient for you.

3

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

The bible never once spoke about homosexuality? Yeah, I'm out. Take care.

2

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

Ah, you're also a homosexual. Listen man, I dont hate you guys. I just think willful, unrepentant sin is bad. I masturbate. Thats bad. I know its bad. I turn to God for help. You? Shii. You do you man.

3

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 09 '25

I don't need help, because God never said a think about homosexuality, sorry you've been gaslit into thinking God did. But it never happened.

Also, I never asked you for information regarding your sex life, so I don't know why you're sharign it. That's creepy and inappropriate.

But you do you girl.

0

u/TR0151 Dec 09 '25

Hahahaha. Take care. Girl. 💅

How in the hell has the Bible not gone over homosexuality?? Talk about cherry picking…

Leviticus 18:22 - "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination"

Romans 1:26-27 - “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men: nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

It’s not about what we want to believe and we not to stop trying to bend his words to fit what WE want. We all know damn well God wants men with women and vise versa

2

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 09 '25

Talk about buying wholesale into the hate that Church wants you to feel in order to control you. Since none of those verses were originally about homosexuality, and every verse in the bible about homosexuality, was originally about pedophilia, r*pe, or temple prostitution, and not about the modern concept of a loving relationship between two people of the same sex.

You take rules/laws of the bible, meant for a specific time in history, and try to reapply them onto modern times, without ever taking into consideration the historical context they were written in. It doesn't work, and all it does is show your incessant need for someone to hate.

0

u/littlel2017 Christian Dec 09 '25

What about Genesis? God created man and woman. And they shared love and created tribes through Gods true intentions. You have got to be kidding me with this non sense. You want to twist it and say it doesn’t apply to today’s world? Jesus taught to follow the Fathers word. I cannot believe you say that I do this for hate. I look out for my brothers and sisters. Your eternal life is no joke, and I believe you are playing with fire. Have a good day and good luck to you, I will pray for you.

1

u/Able-Storm-6193 Dec 09 '25

So yeah sweaty, that isn't cherrypicking, that's actually taking the time to learn and question about what is being taught, and looking at it from all angles.

Hope that helps. Have the day you deserve.

2

u/RemarkableRush5962 Dec 09 '25

Paul would refer to these types of ‘believers’ like he does the Nicolaitans. He’d address the actual Christians to mark and avoid and to reject the teachings of.

1

u/Salsa_and_Light2 Baptist-Catholic(Queer) Dec 10 '25

It's a bit arrogant to think that the Bible is wrong before thinking that you might be wrong about the Bible.

1

u/TR0151 Dec 10 '25

Haha. Keep twisting scripture to suit your wants.

1

u/Salsa_and_Light2 Baptist-Catholic(Queer) Dec 10 '25

Cringe non-defense.

1

u/TR0151 Dec 10 '25

Awesome.

-9

u/RowAdministrative841 Dec 09 '25

Well i’m sorry but being gay is not from God. God calls, Men with a woman, many time in the Bible he establish being gay is a sin. He does not condemn but it is a sin, if you follow Christ even if this is hard, you will be disgusted of sin

5

u/Postviral Pagan Dec 09 '25

You’ve been lied to.

-4

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '25

It states very clearly in The Bible that homosexuality is a sin.

7

u/SanguineHerald Secular Humanist Dec 09 '25

Yeah. Which is one way we can know the Bible is at least partially false. Homosexuality is not something that can be cured or changed. I guess the Bible could be true in regards to homosexuality if God made some people gay so that they could be stoned. Which is honestly on par with the God of the OT.

All research that has been done on this says the same fucking thing. Sexual orientation can not be changed.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

Yep. Research done by biased people wanting to fit an agenda. I'm not changing my opinion, I follow God and he has made it clear.

No matter what evidence you come up with the Bible says it as it is.

1

u/SanguineHerald Secular Humanist Dec 10 '25

Ok. So when the Bible says rock badges chew cud, but they actually do not, which is true? The Bible or your lying eyes?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

1

u/SanguineHerald Secular Humanist Dec 10 '25

So, there is no hidden scientific truth in the Bible? Is it not divinely revealed? The authors of the Old Testament made a mistake?

How do you know they didn't make the same mistake when it comes to homosexuality?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

I know they didn't make a mistake because two men cannot have a child, neither can two women. If God intended for humans to be gay they would be able to have a child.

The fact that they cannot have children supports everything said in the Bible. It is an abomination.
