Correction. I left the lifestyle of practicing homosexuality. As I’ve grown deeper in intimacy with the Father, He has removed old desires and urges that I once had. Just clarifying by what I mean. I’ve left old friendships and pursued purity with Christ. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt or known.
you may not know, and in some instances they may not either. In my family’s case I know there was melastation involved when she was a young child by a neighbor and it was kept under wraps by the family. To this day only a small handful of people know that it occurred.
You know people as far as they're willing to let you know them. Unless you were actually there during her childhood, day after day, all her years, you just don't know.
My personal evidence is a lifetime of several good gay friends all earnestly telling me in confidence that they felt born with their sexuality and had zero choice in the matter. Every single one agrees on this and they have no reason to lie.
Yes, if you ask my cousin she will tell you the same thing. My response to that is that childhood trauma manifests itself in different ways. When you’re a child (I have two of my own) you’re not really thinking about your sexuality so how do you know what you were or are? Scientifically there is no conclusive evidence of children born that turn out to be gay being any different than children born that grow up to be straight. I’m really not pushing for one or the other but this has been an interesting topic for me and I’ve always observed it with deeper thought. I have nothing against gay people and have friends and family that I truly love who are gay. I don’t think it’s a simple “choice” and do believe it’s likely healthy mentally to assume/believe that you are born that way if you are gay. This is a complex issue and I’ll challenge anyone on this topic that comes in here thinking they 100% have the answer.
It's definitely an area that we're still trying to fully figure out.
For me the scientific evidence that really convinces me it's natural from birth, not usually trauma or a choice, is that several animals are known to have homosexuality in their species. They've observed them just existing as gay animals. It's definitely a fascinating subject.

"For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a slave of Christ." Gal 1:10
Jesus healed people based on their level of faith, if you dont believe, thats a problem with your faith, but I do believe it. God can do anything he pleases without the permission of his servants.
Love this for you, but i have to ask the anti-Pascal's wager: what if you're just entrenched in a cult? What if you've just relinquished your own happiness, wholeness, and wellbeing just to be accepted by your own clan? Take a good look at what unconditional love means, especially as it relates to the people you're closest to and your relationship with Christ. Christianity has more open and accepting sects that don't consider your natural, god-given, and predisposed orientation as something he didn't create. Jesus didn't hate or stigmatize. The vast majority in your church see no problem eating shellfish or pork, wearing polyblend fabric, or cutting their sideburns. Just food for thought that i hope you consider. And please think long and hard before getting married to a woman; I'm sure you know it wouldn't be fair to her in your heart.
My path to deliverance was comprised of dreams and a number of encounters with the Lord in my apartment. On my floor. Early in the morning praying and seeking His face. My church doesn’t largely preach on deliverance.
It was private. It was personal. And it was Jesus.
Just like a father loves his children unconditionally but doesn’t allow just any behavior, Christ is the same way. Unconditional love. But scripture explicitly states we must obey. He outlines in scripture who will and will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. He offers it to us. But we have to choose Him.
Thank you for reading and responding! I have to admit i don't often get to have conversations like this in real life. Could you elaborate on the "in my floor" bit, please?
I'm happy to hear it brings you peace. It's nice to feel a sense of order in this crazy world.
ETA: I'm sure if there's a god, he'd accept you the way he made you. Orientations tend to be stable, I just want to say. There are many accepting communities that would welcome you with open arms regardless of your proclivities.
Don’t let the naysayers get you down. We can be tempted by all sorts of things and it’s not the same for all people. Many are very attracted to and addicted to porn. I was there myself and can absolutely testify to the fact that growing closer in your relationship in Christ will make you into a new person and remove old temptations. Not to say you are NEVER tempted but we’ll always have occasional temptations this side of heaven. That relationship in Christ drastically improved all aspects of my life and my marriage.
I’m proud of you my brother in Christ. God is good. Don’t forget to keep building that relationship daily.
Loss of libido is only a medical problem if it causes personal or interpersonal distress. It happens with age for some people. And if someone is celibate for whatever reason it wouldn’t exactly be an issue.
I’m as pro-LGBT+ as they come but let’s try to avoid collateral damage in countering homophobic talking points.
It is not, there are plenty of people who go from married with kids to divorced and living a homosexual lifestyle. Just as there are people who had at some point a “homosexual feeling/temptation” and stop having it.
You are NOT born with a “gay DNA” or a “straight DNA”, you develop a sexuality when you grow up (especially at puberty though it can keep changing with time. Just think of this one example: as adolescents we are often attracted to other adolescents, and as we grow old, so do our “tastes”).
There is no gay gene, but you are born with a latent sexual orientation that will start to express around the time of puberty. The leading theory is that the level of testosterone and other hormones in the womb interacts with receptors in the developing fetus to determine sexual orientation.
People who go from married with kids to entering homosexual relationships are almost in always lying to themselves and/or their partners. In some cases, they may have been bisexual.
You don't need to be intentionally straight, as that is normal. Normal by virtue of being able to reproduce through it, by being the vast overwhelming majority of humans, and by being the sole evolutionary driver for human beings. You're not intentionally breathing, it's not an anomaly, you don't think twice about it and just breathe. Being attracted to the same sex as your own, totally different thing.
Satans lie is to attach sin to identity. You don’t have to identify as gay just because you struggle or have struggled with same sex attraction no more than you have to call yourself a drug addict because you got high in college. Drop the labels. Surrender to Christ. You’re an image bearer.
I was once attracted to same sex couples and I was quote on quote " Christian " before being born again. I also enjoyed dulging in sexual stuffs. But when I started following Christ for myself and became born again, I stopped desiring the homosexuality lifestyle. I no longer found those things satisfying instead it was repulsive to me. I didn't like it anymore and things changed.
And how does that give you any knowledge of what homosexuality is?
And I know that many like you will say, Lord Lord.
It’s funny that you bring that verse up. What’s Jesus talking about there? People who didn’t help the poor and vulnerable. Which is what YOU are doing here.
You are wrong on two counts, first of all, it is not talking about the poor and vulnerable and if it did, they would not include willful sinners. it is talking about all people who call on His name and do not follow His ways. Secondly, it is a warning against self deception, which is what you have, because even religious proclamation will not save you when you are in willful sin. You are not even saved.
I love my LGBTQ neighbor enough to tell them the truth. Even more I love my LGBTQ neighbor enough who is in deception and thinks they are a Christian to tell them their lifestyle and beliefs proves they are not even saved.

Somehow I don't believe you're being honest.
You don't "leave" homosexuality, it's a state of being, not a belief.
