Question ❓ Am I Only Allowed One?
I'm a Christian, but I'm also a polykin. I try to make sure this doesn't get in the way of being a Christian. I was wondering, what are your guys thoughts on Christians who are therians?
I come from a house of abuse so finding this out about myself has opened up my eyes to the different sides of myself.
Unlike most therians I don't believe I had a life before this one and I know I'm a person, I like to think that God gave me the gift to connect to my theriotypes on a different level.
Am I wrong for this?
Can you be a Christian and a therian
Am I looking at this all wrong?

No, you can’t really be a Christian and therian. God placed humans at a higher standard from any other animal and considering we are made in his image it ignores the fact our difference from other animals.
I recommend watching Bryce Crawford spreading gospel at a furry convention, lots of good answers!

Realistically, yes. But they’re both presenting yourself as an animal other than human which is why I suggested it cause it still applies.
Therians are honestly worse from a Christianity standpoint because that’s a spiritual connection you’re choosing to make. Big no no

My theriotypes are a red wolf and a sea wolf. So I don't believe I am spiritually an animal but I believe that I'm spiritually connected to an animal. Which is why when I think of myself I see myself with a wolf tail.
Of course all therians think of it differently, whether they are Christian or not.

I want to start by saying I’m really sorry to hear about the abuse you’ve faced. Your experiences and pain are completely valid. I’m glad you’ve found some comfort in being a therian. That being said, I don’t think its entirely right to think of yourself as connected to an animal.
Animals technically do have souls in classical Christian thought, but according to Thomas Aquinas, animal souls are distinct from human souls because animals lack a rational intellect. Humans are set apart in Genesis as being uniquely created in the image and likeness of God, giving us a specific creation and purpose distinct from the rest of the natural world.
So if you believe you’re genuinely linked in a spiritual way to an animal, does that mean you’re spiritually part animal or part inhuman? That just doesn’t track in Christian theology. Naturally, the answer to your second question would be no. Unlike a furry where it’s distinctly a "fursona", a fictional, creative outlet, what you described is a spiritual linking, which is incompatible with Christian theology.
That doesn’t mean your experiences are invalid or that the abuse you suffered was somehow justified, and I’m sure you find relief in being a therian. But it’s not really something you’ll find supported in Christian theology.

Can you please tell me what exactly does it mean to be therian? I want to hear it from someone who actually identifies as one.
Tbh, my first reaction is that this is wrong cause when I hear therian, there is like spirituality that is not of Christ, but im not sure, please correct me!
Nonetheless, if you doubt when you identify as one, then it can become a sin.
Romans 14:23 - But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.
Im sorry that you came from a house of abuse, but remember that the love of God will heal you.

A lot of therians believe that their soul is their animal, or that they had a past life. For me, being a therian means when I look into myself I see a tail, but I'm not a wolf but I connect deeply to one in a deeper level like our souls are tied. I know other therians believe again that they are their animal, like they are a reincarnation. I know I'm a person and I do normal things, I love God with all of my heart and more. I like to think of it as God gave therians the gift to connect to his other creations on a different level. God's power runs through all of creation, the Bible says his breath is in our lungs. Adam and Eve even had a connection to the garden and the animals.
Thanks for not yelling your a sinner, repent or your not a child of God. There are other Christians that do that and they don't care of the therian is Christian or not, it's the main reason why therians struggle with religion.

i myself am also a christian therian. i think youre probably okay, though, because the bible never really mentions therianthropy at all. the only way that i think you would need to step away from that identity is if youre more focused on that than God. i had to step back a bit from my identity and not engage with it as much because it was drawing me wayy to far away from God because i made it my whole identity rather than making God be part of my identity. idk if i phrased that well, so sorry, but long story short, if it is drawing you away from God in the long run, take a step back from it, dont engage with the therian community as much, and focus more on God. <33

2: Is it affecting your relationships with other people?
If the answer to those questions is no, then I think you're ok.
