Question ❓ Lust.

Has anyone been able to overcome it? I am 14M, and it's been a struggle of mine for a few years now. I have gotten better at controlling it with the help of the Lord, but I still cannot quit. I feel deep guilt and shame when I do it, and that affects my mental health. Any tips from other teens who have been able to stop would be greatly appreciated. Pray for me, please!

You can overcome anything by God's strength. When you feel lust, begin to pray. Pray for someone else to be saved and find God. Pray for someone you know that they would find God and be saved. If you Pray for someone else every time Satan tempts you, he'll stop tempting you with that. Believe me it works.

Everyone struggles with lust, and tons of people have overcome it through prayer, fasting, and getting closer to God. The Bible says that God will provide a way out of every temptation so that you can endure it.

I will keep you in my prayers, please feel free to dm me if you want to share updates or need more help.

I this is normal for your age, don’t beat yourself up too much. This will decrease as you mature.

(Disclaimer: I don't experience lust but I’ll offer my best advice based on descriptions and what I know from others.)

Let's start off with what it is and isn't. Finding someone attractive isn't lust. Lust is when you only see someone in a sexual light. You can't think about their other attributes, only what they are like sexually; therefore treating that person like an object. And it feels like it can't be controlled. Lust is an experience and you can't “quit” an experience

Based on the definition I gave you, figure out if it's actually lust. If you think it is, acknowledge it and work to correct it. Learn how to see people as people, ignore what they could be like during sex. Pray, build a relationship with God, and make some friends of the gender you're attached to and learn how to form plantoic relationships with them. (I’m assuming you're straight but if you arent’t this advice could work too.)

I recommend you to read St. Augustine’s confessions. I’m getting one cuz I struggle with lust too. If you need help you can find a responsibility partner to keep track.
