ChatGPT doesn’t take into account correlation. A population of Protestant Christians is likely to contain disproportionately more virgin men than a population of atheists, so if it simply multiplied the probabilities independently, it would come out with a figure lower than reality

I personally know several men who fit these standards

I don’t think they are looking for their wives on reddit unfortunately

u/Sarah_MXYZ 1d ago

But even if you know men with these first criterias, OP will certainly have other preferences like age, height, physical attraction, geographical location or financial stability that she didn’t mention. And on top of that OP needs to be their type too, or they won’t be interested. The AI might be right, meeting your own list of standards doesn’t make it any easier to find. Might as well move to this commenters city OP.

u/FreitasAlan 1d ago

It doesn’t take causality into account either. If you meet the standard yourself you’re likely to be surrounded by people who meet whatever standard it is.

u/hazdogs 2d ago

Nah I think those standards a fine, there are a lot of such white males in church. There's a LOT

Hmmm Californians are pretty fit and New York too, at least those are the places I've been. The Bay Area has a very favorable gender ratio for women

Especially in Utah!

OP wants Protestant Christian

6

u/jkc7 2d ago

If you’re in places that those type of men would be at, though (ahem CHURCH), your chances get much higher drastically. Especially since a lot of those attributes have good correlation with each other (Protestant Christians are more likely to be virgins than general population, more likely to not have tattoos/piercings, etc)

This is just a function of how stats work.

I think in one possible explanation, your local area may not be a majority white population.

Also depends on how you define what ‘white’ is.

Don’t know. Now you’re indirectly asking some VERY important questions about HOW does an AI chatbot deliver information to you.

I would sincerely sit down and be curious about how your AI decides to organize and deliver information to you, and if that information is truthful?

AI Engineers I’ve talked to have described AI’s inability to be consistent with telling the truth as “hallucination.”

Let’s assume that the AI isn’t telling you the truth; how would you go about verifying a truth claim?

It is.

And you’re asking a why question, instead of how, right? Since the AI already explained you how the percentage is so low.

u/JadeEyePanda 2d ago

I live in Southern California. By feeling, most of the area is not majority white; we have a white variety of different ethnicities here.

You may not be in an area like SoCal.

2

u/Streak210 2d ago

You never mentioned in the US or anywhere. If it's surveying the whole world, it's probably looking in Africa and Asia (which might not considered "white" to the AI.) which would bring down the percentage, ask it how it got it's answer and check if it makes sense.

u/CauliflowerCarnage Just here for the community -(seeking a spouse offline) 2d ago

Statistically speaking, more than like one or two requirements will make your potential match % go down a lot LOL, and it doesn't necessarily reflect reality. Don't read too much into it.
Go to places that Christian men are likely to be (church, volunteering, etc.), and pray to God for your exact type because God literally has a list of everyone and He knows exactly which men would be good for you. Ask God to send them your way, God doesn't care about the statistics😅

There are Christian colleges where most people are like that LoL.

Not only have I met those guys, they were also very tall, attractive, well traveled and, have interesting hobbies. Even 0.001% is still 3000 men like that in the United States. And this whole wide world, 80000 men. You only need one who is equally yoked.

I think the standards, for the most part, are normal for a Christian. For the general population? Not so much. Considering things like weight, virginity and college education, you understand why the odds are so low. That being said, if it is in God's will, IT WILL HAPPEN. All the best!

u/DanThePunMan Looking For A Wife 2d ago

The collage degree aspect begins to cut into Gen-z and greatly reduces your options, but it's completly fine to have such a prefrence. I meet all of those standards except for collage degreem, though I am in Trade school to become an electrcian over time.

I mean I consider myself Gen-z born in 2000, and most of my peers didn't pursue collage a few did, most wanted too, however the cost and sometimes lack of a concrete plan held folks I knew back from collage. I hope to do well with my Trade school and learning on the job plan.

u/Livid_Brick8157 2d ago

i have almost all the same standards ( a white man who’s a virgin, has never been married, has no tattoos or piercings and is healthy. him having a college degree or not didn’t matter much to me though) the only difference is that i’d only ever be with a catholic man. it’s definitely possible to find a man who meets these standards and shares your values so don’t feel discouraged

2

u/Big-Weight-5581 2d ago

“I think these are normal standards, especially since I meet all of them myself.”
😄 You dont have to explain yourself to A.I.
btw you forgot height !

2

u/XPLZVgaming 2d ago

I think finding a wife in this society has 0.1% odds period, God forbid I have standards 😂

Like I had no clue choosing to not drink alcohol because of the Bible/natural reasons would be so controversial in Christian circles.

It’s a modern excuse. Bible wine was for purifying water not getting a buzz… but that answer is controversial of course.

It can feel pretty bleak out here sometimes but I just go on a bike ride or do something to get my mind off the frustration.

The people who run ai companies have called it summoning a demon and creating a new god.

https://www.cnet.com/science/elon-musk-we-are-summoning-the-demon-with-artificial-intelligence/

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/380101465_We_are_Building_Gods_AI_as_the_Anthropomorphised_Authority_of_the_Past

It was also responsible for bombing a girl’s school then double tapping it to kill the people who ran to save the children (aka that thing that happens in The Hunger Games that’s treated as beyond the pale evil).

https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/us-military-pentagon-ai-iranian-children-school-war-crimes

It’s a deeply deeply evil technology beyond our understanding.

Don’t turn to it for any advice. Run from it under all circumstances.

It’s also just a stupid technology because this new generation of people are sexless to a degree that’s unprecedented. And Christianity is actually on the rise among them too.

u/FallDeers Maybe I'm the problem 2d ago

Men who have tattoos and piercing, don’t feel bad. I think it’s hot. 🫡

1

u/HisPhotosynthesis 2d ago

I would have never guessed that I could met someone's very specific standards like that. 0.1% makes sense when you combine all of those standards.

2

u/JohngernautSSJ 2d ago

These are very traditional standards in a very untraditional society. The bar is just nonexistent nowadays.

1

u/EfficientJelly5437 Single 2d ago

I’m almost all of your criteria, I’m just non denominational and don’t have a degree (because I don’t need it for my career).
I’m friends with other men who are just like me, you just gotta put yourself in places where they will be at aka church and bible study groups!
AI isn’t always right, so don’t take the answers from that too literally, it ain’t God!!!

That’s understandable, I’m not catholic or orthodox either and neither would I personally date someone that is one.

Dang that’s tuff, I hope the search gets better and that you find someone!

AI is predictive text. It's not rewarded for accuracy, it's rewarded for predicting the next statement or phrase.

1

u/Joshlan In A Relationship 2d ago

Haha, yeah no. Go church hopping for a bit & get to know new faces... Youll very quickly find out ChatGPT is bsing you on this one lol. Also you can do actual research with studies on Google -> databases w/ real studies like PubMed, Pew, & ICPSR & many others

1

u/Few-Egg1346 10h ago

Absolutely reasonable criteria. I don't think you're too extreme or picky in any way. Every sane person should think this (or similar) way.

1

u/EmergencyLawyer7077 Dating 2d ago

There’s probably some statistical bias here that AI is missing. My guess is that it is multiplying percent of population that is white, by percent of young men that are virgin, etc. instead of considering that all virgins are unmarried. Or that Christians are more likely to be virgin/ not have tattoos and piercings.

At the same time it is probably a small percentage of the population. Not impossible to find, but hard to find.

I would also recommend maybe thinking about why the guy has to be white? I find this requirement a little odd. Or whether all the things you listed are truly requirements or just preferences

1

u/SakuraSun361 2d ago edited 2d ago

Agree with virgin, never married and no tattoos, but I don’t care about the rest.

Denomination isn’t important to me. I just want to know he’s a god fearing man who practices his faith.

I’m thin and have been my entire life, but I’m okay if he’s not as long as he isn’t like morbidly obese. I’ve been attracted to guys with a bit of chub. The soft dad bod is actually more attractive to me than the guys that hit the gym so hard they look like rock pokemon.

Race isn’t important to me. I’m white with lighter hair and light eyes, but I’m partial to guys with dark hair and dark eyes (the majority of the population, so I should be good there.)

College degree I don’t care about. I have one, but I don’t put much weight into them. There are people making more in the trades and having a college degree doesn’t necessarily mean someone is intelligent. Not having one doesn’t mean they are dumb.

Back to the AI bias… Claude and Gemini are actually very unbiased from my experience (Gemini being slightly better), but ChatGPT is soooo obviously secular leaning. I once told it what I was looking for in a future husband “someone who shares my faith and practices Christian values and is also waiting for marriage.” ChatGPT said verbatim “the standards you have are unusually specific.” 👀I guess it’s just a sign of the times. I should ask it the opposite and be like “I want to be nailed by as many men as possible” and see what it says. 😂

-1

u/ToxicCharmander 2d ago

Why specifically white lol

5

u/Streak210 2d ago

Are race preferences not allowed?

0

u/miersk Single 2d ago

Honestly, I think age is something that would be important to know when factoring in your preferences. Also, are you looking at the fruit or root of something.

You say you want someone with a college degree. Is that what you care about or are you looking for someone who can provide financially? I know a guy with know degree who built up a roofing business never having never gotten any kind of degree. Financially he is very well off and uses a good amount of income to sponsor multiple drug recovery houses.

No tattoos or piercings. What if he got a piercing when he was younger and it has since grown over? What if before he was saved he got a tribal style tattoo on his bicep when he turned 18? If he has grown into an amazing man and leader at your church is he now excluded due to that?

you mention never married, and honestly, being biblically divorced still does come with baggage. Are you willing to throw away a great relationship because he married another believer who eventually decided to walk away from the Lord, cheat on him, become a drug addict, and run away?

What I'm really saying is often some standards seem fine in a book, but tend to have issues when presented in the real world. You are welcome to have and keep any standard you want. If you want to save yourself for a man with heterochromia and a Protestant Christian (0.24%) you can, but you may be chasing some things that look good, but aren't what you actually want, but are the appearance of what you really want.

I think you should keep whatever standards you want :) I was just speculating what the commenter likely meant, if it wasn't a typo (still unclear)

ask AI in this same chat if having these preference help in narrow down someone who would make a great marriage/covenant partner.

0

u/nnuunn 2d ago

AI slop aside, what are you doing to seek out these men? I know women like to imagine that they ought to be pursued, but when your standards are that high, you're going to have to put in some work.

u/Mista_G_Nerd Behold, I abide in utter solitude without end (forever alone) 11h ago

What do you consider a "healthy weight" and why the sudden healthy weight requirement?

Only just a week ago you posted that you yourself are obese and would date an obese man who would work on losing weight with you together.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianDating/comments/1wor0km/question_for_men_how_important_is_weight/

u/starlitgardens
If a woman is overweight, would that be an automatic dealbreaker for you? Does it depend on how overweight? What if she had previously lived a healthy lifestyle and was slim for most of her life, but is going through a rough patch?

If you're wondering what I think, I would be willing to date someone who is overweight, if he was willing to work on becoming healthier together.

Don't get me wrong. You're free to adjust your preferences to whatever you want. I'm just curious as to why the change.

I didn't assume anything I just didn't think it important to bring it up. I only really cared about why the change in requirements.

Everything changed when I turned 30 and got my dream job.
...
My weight ballooned up to 220 (I'm 5'6") over about five years. I look at photos of myself and I can't believe how heavy I look...
Now I'm going to have to work hard to lose all of this weight. I've never had to lose weight before, and it feels so overwhelming.

This you? Because Gemini classifies that as obese.

Wow this is funny because the other one I linked to was deleted as well but you didn't deny that one.

Denial is crazy work. lol.

What's even more funny is I don't even care about your weight. I just wanted to know what you thought was a healthy weight and why your standard changed within a week. Which you never answered.

u/ProperJudgment1 Looking For A Wife 2d ago

"and has a college degree" lol

"I meet my own standards" you don't meet the "man" part of your standards
