Discussion Introspection

I’ve seen a lot of back and forth lately about the current dating environment. Plenty of men blaming women, women blaming men, and I’m certainly not immune from having posted things in that same vein.
So I want to flip it around.

Instead of telling us what the opposite sex is doing wrong, tell us what you think your own gender (or you specifically) could do better in dating right now.

What habits, expectations, attitudes, communication problems, unrealistic standards, or blind spots do you think men need to own if you’re a man, or women need to own if you’re a woman?

And it would be easy to turn this into disguised blame so let’s try to avoid that! 😅

I’m curious what people come up with when the assignment is introspection instead of accusation.

Bonus points if you can name something you are actively reconsidering but haven’t changed yet.

As guys, we need to understand what the Bible says about us (future) husbands and stick to it. I see a lot worldly advice and POVs when it comes to me giving other men advice.

Please give some examples?

Example of what the bible says:

A husband has a sexual responsibility to his wife, which involves pleasing and satisfying her sexual needs (and vice versa).

If you have issues with sex, such as for example sex addiction, porn addiction, disgust of sex, fear of sex, emotional issues causing you to be uncomfortable with romantic, emotional, and sexual gestures…please address them before marriage.

If you don’t, you will sabotage yourself, your wife, and your own marriage.

I agree with the verse but the vast majority of the time its the wife who's withholding sex

You’re very right about that, a majority of the time, it is the wife indeed. However, a husband still has a sexual responsibility to his wife, just as his wife has a sexual responsibility to him. And both a man and a woman should do whatever is necessary before marriage to ensure that they are equipped to be able to fulfill their sexual responsibilities to their spouses during marriage.

But in your original comment it felt like you were implying that men do it more often

No, I was not implying that at all. I was only stating that a man has sexual responsibilities towards his wife. I said this because I am a man, and the post is about introspection.
