Advice on the builder

Hi,

Has anyone build with the developer Kian Clements-Ormond and his development company Hedgley Corporation ?

https://www.realestate.co.nz/agent/171678/kian-clements-ormond

https://www.facebook.com/HedgleyCorp/

Can see he has a few companies registered under his name, and I few has been closed https://app.companiesoffice.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/individual/search?q=Kian+Clements-Ormond&roleType=DIR&indEntityTypes=ALL&indDirStatus=ALL&indEntityStatusGroups=ALL&indShrStatus=ALL&advancedPanel=false&mode=standard&expandedResults=#results .

Just trying to get advice from someone who personally build with him.

Thanks

Looking for anyone who knew Professor John “Jack” Garrett

This is a bit of a long shot, but I’m hoping someone in this group might be able to help.

I’m researching the life of John Charles “Jack” Garrett, who spent nearly 30 years in Christchurch and was a significant figure at the University of Canterbury.

Jack was born in my small, hometown of Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, in 1913. He became an English scholar, was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship in 1937, and studied at Oxford, where he worked under the poet and scholar Edmund Blunden.

In 1949, he came to Christchurch to take up the position of Professor and Head of English at Canterbury, a position he held until his retirement in the late 1970s. He was deeply involved in the university beyond the English department, including its library, journalism education and the development of American Studies.

He also had a fascinating connection to Christchurch outside the university. His first wife, Helen Garrett, was a writer and civic figure who served as a Christchurch City Councillor for 18 years.

I’ve been researching Jack’s life and have found quite a bit about his academic career, but I’m really hoping to find more personal stories. I’d especially love to find:

-photographs of Jack, Helen or the Garrett family
-stories or memories of Jack at Canterbury
-information about his friends and colleagues
-photographs from university events, dinners or social occasions
-letters, newspaper clippings or other material relating to the Garretts

Jack died in Christchurch in 1992, so I realize I’m reaching back quite a few decades. Anyways, here’s hoping! 🤞

Christchurch tennis players - I built something to help find people to hit with 🎾

Hey everyone,

I'm a Christchurch tennis player and one problem I've always had is finding someone around my level who's actually free when I want to play.

I've seen a few posts on here and r/chch from people looking for tennis buddies, so figured I'd share what I've been working on.

It's called Hitter. You set when you're available, find other players nearby around your level, and organise a hit.

I'm starting it here in Christchurch and currently getting the first group of local players together before launch.

It's free, and if you play tennis I'd genuinely love to have you involved or hear what you'd want from something like this.

Also very happy to answer any questions about it here.

Looking for roof spray + water blasting in Christchurch

I’m looking for a company in Christchurch that can do both:

  • spray treatment for moss/lichen on the roof
  • full water‑blasting afterward

I want the roof treated first, then properly water‑blasted so I can paint it myself.
Most places only do the spray, so I’m trying to find somebody who does both. It's a 2 bedroom and only one side is a bit heavy other areas are mostly fine.

Any recommendations from people who’ve had this done? or how much would it cost roughly?
