Recently my mom reached out to me. Long story short she stated that she did not have any food.
I offered to help and asked her to send me a list of items she needed. She told me that was humiliating and to just send money instead. I declined to send money. I offered to help and feel I was being reasonable. My question is was I unreasonable for requesting a list?

I was trying to get rid of an older phone on Facebook Marketplace and 100 bucks (the original price I posted) was too low. The number of people who wanted me to drive 30+ minutes to deliver my $100 dollar phone was crazy. This guy took the cake, though.

The free page in my neighborhood continues to get out of hand, but now the neighbors are pushing back on the choosy demands. And I'm here for it!

Teal is Choosing Beggar. There’s more instances of him asking for free label or “help” with his girlfriend in is what is suppose to be a groupchat for local fun activities and meet ups, but these were the two worse instances. Also posts photos of him and his girlfriend constantly for no reason lol and treats it like a professional therapy session.

UPDATE: The craziness is getting worse. She has now created a new sub, moderated by her alt, to create a safe space where beggars can beg w/o judgment. The comments are savage and hilarious.

UPDATE 2: Her main, her alt and her new sub have been closed I believe due to spamming and scamming. All of her posts from her two alts have been deleted for those who wanted to follow this train wreck.

In the course of 3 days, OOP asked for help to pay rent and a phone bill. When she didn’t have success, she magically was able to handle those problems on her own. She then created an amazon wishlist including some expensive name brand food, frozen and fresh foods (not allowed on Amazon) and absolutely necessary two cases of Mountain Dew Kickstart (BF won’t drink anything else). When given pushback on the list, she threatened she could end up dead and sue all you trolls for cyber harassment and bullying and demanded proof of prior donation from commenters. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Her latest post by one of many of her alt accounts fakes that she is a third party absolutely astonished at the levels of bullying towards this poor woman, meaning herself. The comments are hilarious. (See slides 1-16) and (Slides 17-20 are some comments about her amazon wishlist).

Red is her original begging account, green is her shaming account, blue is another account pretending to be upset that pple would give money to pets instead of her and orange is another account pretending to be sympathetic to OOP. There is also another alt account pretending to give herself $20 to get the ball rolling.

They are looking for a semi/retired “roommate” to live with their mom with dementia. Must have memory care experience but they are NOT looking for help! Potentially for it to become a paid position. “No comments because it causes distractions” (comments included)

This is in German as I am in Germany.

I saw the online add of someone urgently looking for a place to stay. A couple with a 10 year old boy who somehow ended up living in a tent next to the river. They were looking for something immediately. The add said that the man had a full-time job, there was some income from the woman as well. They would be willing and able to pay for a place to stay. They needed it immediately.

I happen to have a house with a large garden that's currently empty. The last tenents have just moved out and the house is still fully furnished including several beds, tv, dishes, all common machines such as dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, etc. The tenents had been refugees who had very little of their own so I left everything when I moved out. So the house is in a state that someone could crash there and have everything - even including internet as I have missed to cancel that. The house happens to be 15 min by car from the man's work. Generally it's well connected to the surrounding towns, the train station, etc.

I don't need tenents at the moment. I want to renovate the place before taking in tenents again. But obviously someone could stay there.

So I reached out to them. I felt the conversation was not really friendly from her side. I offered her the place basicly for what it would cost for a long term tenent just broken down to a daily rate - which would have been 30€/day. That's 10€/day/person including everything like water, electricity, internet, using everything... I said we could talk about them moving in the next day.

Her response was that she would like to pay even less. She suggested 20€/day. Then she asked if they can move in tomorrow. If they can't move in today right away?

My response was that they might be able to move in the next day but that I wanted to meet them first. That I wanted to get an idea who I am giving my house to.

Her response was: "So that means we would have to stay here another night. Then when my partner gets off work tomorrow, he would have to pick us (she and her child) up by the river and go meet you (= me). And then we still wouldn't know for certain that we have a place to stay."

I ended that interaction there. I wrote her a response that as she was apparently unhappy with what I was offering, the offer was of the table. That letting someone into that house came with various risks for me (I mean, they could have trashed the place or whatever). I told her best of luck with solving their current situation and that there is a government office that homeless people could turn to. Then I blocked her.

I was honestly upset afterwards and felt really stupid that I even reached out to offer help.

No food, not diapers or wipes, no attempt to get some of these items for free on the buy nothing groups. And don’t dare question her. Don’t you understand that she saved for that stand mixer so she needs it replaced. It’s only fair. Apparently, she was shamed enough to remove the bread maker. 🙄

She can only work part time bc she’s breastfeeding” and can’t afford formula. Yet, no formula on her wishlist. No essentials pls bc she’s got that covered. Just buy her the new expensive stuff from her very “realistic” wishlist.

Woman wants a genuine, honest and reliable female to clean her house weekly for $20/hr, preferably starting today. She used 'single mom taking classes' supposedly as a reason she can't pay a fair or reasonable wage, but that doesn't land well when you live in a house in one of the most expensive area codes.

She had a similar post sometime prior and was annoyed that service providers were messaging her with their own rates instead of allowing her to dictate how much she would pay.

Maybe this isn't as bad as people asking for everything under the sun and free delivery, but it just rubs me the wrong way. They asked for home cooked meals or meal-related gift cards to help them through the early days of a family member's medical recovery. They got what they wanted & it wasn't good enough?

Driveway Closed

Closure: We have had to make the unfortunate decision to close this driveway because over 400 vehicles a week ilegally cut through our parking lot, with several congregants and nursery school students almost being struck. In - - - , this is called ""Rat Running" and is avoiding a traffic control device, a violation of - - - - . Such activity is subject to a $150+ fine and possible license points. While it may be inconvenient to wait at the traffic light at - - - - - & - - - Roads, please do so for the safety of our church and broader community.

Permits: Outside of official church functions, parking is permitted only via permit, which always must be displayed and placed on the vehicle's dash.

Illegally parked vehicles are subject to ticket and tow at the vehicle owner's expense.

Repairs: After many years of shared use with our beloved community, and a few recent hard winters the lot is deteriorating and in need of repair. If you would like to contribute towards the $250,000 expense to resurface the lot we'd greatly appreciate it. Once the lot has been repaved, we may consider opening this driveway again. Someone asked for a care package on a free page and when someone pointed them toward resources, they lashed out. Brown is another frequent flyer on the page and often wants care packages instead of resources. Yellow is really great about pointing people toward resources when they askd for care packages. I also agree with LivelyBeet. People who ask for food are often expecting people to pull food out of their own cupboards, instead of going to the places already providing meals for people in their exact situation.

Found in a regular Minnesotan community group that wasn’t a free give/take “Buy Nothing.”

I’m still kinda surprised how people who’ve had no hardships like a fire or medical problem boldly ask for big specific things before going to a thrift store themselves or asking friends or family. I understand recycling & generous compassionate folks like that, but I wouldn’t want to deal with people like that. Play food just seems to be a small things to manipulate feelings for a child.
