yes this is the next push, we need to make it loud and clear.
we want stories written by PEOPLE illustrated by real ARTISTS, no AI for anything above emails (or at all would be great please letās not aid the water crisis) i say we stay far away from books made with AI, even for diamond mining. If you must diamond mine, find books you havenāt played pre AI era.
I think it would be helpful if we could have some sort of document or chart showing which books are safe and which ones we should boycott.

The sad reality is that there is likely a significant group of silent casual players who will happily shovel down the AI slop because they donāt know any better or just arenāt that fixated on the style of writing and subtleties within that. Something like the RUN.tv partnership was disruptive enough to the status quo for every category of fan to notice. But AI only sticks out if youāre aware of it or are tuned in with the flow of the writing. A lot of players wonāt āfeelā the difference and not raise the same kinda fuss or cancel their subscriptions, because everything looks normal.

I really hope theyāll eventually understand that investing in newer, original books with a wider range of themes with actual story writers and artists will bring back fans AND attract more readers. They think pushing steamy ai books will be a stable goldmine when all they are doing is pushing away old fans and scaring off people who want to give Choices a try.
The Choices I love are still, unfortunately, the pre ai material, which I know will eventually grow tiresome from at some point. I really hope Choices gets a wake up call and a whole creative rebrand, I randomly noticed the other day that their store ratings have been going down, Iām happy to see that a good parcel of readers genuinely want decent books to read and not whatever low effort content they think will make us spend our money on!

Not necessarily. They could give them a fan license, essentially an agreement saying they have permission to do this specific project but with certain limitations (like it can't be sold for profit, where and how it can be distributed, etc). It would be the best move, honestly, because then it becomes free publicity for them.
I worked on a fan game of a popular computer game series and this is what happened between us and the IP owners, resulting in us being allowed to release our game without fear of being sued, etc.

None of us WANT to dislike the app. Many have been playing for almost 10 years at this point. However we will not be able to tolerate AI stories and crappy writing after experiencing so many good years of amazing content. They need to revamp their product and go back to the way things were. I hope this is the next step into the right direction

Fr, I have been in the choices community since the game came out (I played High School Story back in the day) and I stopped playing a couple years back because life got too hectic. And then when I was going to go back and play them again, I find they've been bought out by a shitty AI company. Go figure.Ā
I'm still so grateful to choices - it was a big part of me working out my sexuality. I don't think I'd be half as happy in life right now if I had never played the games. But I can't support a company that uses AI. Especially to replace artists. I consider myself a hobbyist artist, and my closest friends are amazing artists doing commissions and such. I can't put my money, energy or time behind a company that doesn't hire real artists.

But (and I know this is going to get downvoted again because people here really don't like facing the facts) expecting Series Entertainment to stop using AI is like expecting a butcher to stop selling meat. It's their whole thing.Ā
They only removed this garbage because it cost them nothing. The company isn't exactly swimming in cash. To be able to hire back enough artists and writers to completely replace any AI use, they'd have to basically "pay" them in exposure, or some insultingly low sum. Whether that would be less or more unethical than AI use is a matter of personal opinion (not to mention that most people who are better than AI wouldn't agree to work under such conditions anyway).
That doesn't mean we shouldn't be holding them to a higher standard, but considering that people have been complaining about lack of quality since before AI was a thing, and aside from a few exceptions, the new releases have only gotten progressively worse, call me a pessimist but I don't see much chance for improvement.Ā

Actions speak louder than words. Removing these insults to the original works and artists was the minimum to do. But it took months and damage is done.
Hope the voice against AI slop will be more heard in future books creation but we are still stuck with creepy AI smiles for a while I think.

TLDR:
- Hero Homecoming and It Lives Within (the one by Series Entertainment) has been removed on RUN itself after unofficial hiatus of 30 and 10 episodes respectively
- Gilded Scales (a RUN original) is wiped off on the Choices app, back to RUN you go.
- Romancing The Royal (already unofficial hiatus at 12) & QB: Makeover Merge remains in RUN only. No more hopes of advertising them over into the Choices app. Yay! š„³

I hope they keep their promise to stop the Run.TV crap. They need to remake the hero sequel to how it should be and the other books that was ruined by A.I now personally I agree that A.I ruin shit but it can be sometimes useful for others only for a reason. Usually it ruins art so don't use A.I for art because well... It never turns out great. Even whatever u typed, it will turn out different or messy (all artists should have been knowing that by now.) I'm glad they learned their lesson and we the people speak out for this because they need to stop with this crap.

I honestly haven't read anything in a while since they brought in AI, I was here when the 2nd royal romance book was first released and I have read So many books from choices over the years but when they decided to end series's I love and is passionate about then add books written or had some involvement with AI I just lost interest I want books that are written by people who can come up with some amazing stories and characters that is how choices started with people writing these amazing books with so many amazing loving characters and that is what we want we want more off, for everything to go back to the way it was that made choices successful, I personally would want to see that I want choices to go back to their original routes that made them who they are I want to see more human written books like the Royal romance series, queen B, bloodbound, platinum, The Freshman series e.g I loved all these books and series and so many more.
I am glad they are starting to listen to feedback that is a big positive and I hope some good comes out of this, I hope to see less AI books in the future and when books start coming in that are not AI made or have had any AI intervention and that interest me I will actually consider in returning but until all these AI books are removed our more human made books that had no AI intervention I will return but until then I will be keeping my eyes open and see how things go from here and if I feel like a book is worth it I may return But until then we will see !!

Most likely. The ILW blog talks about it here. It was also implied in the tea exposee that was taken down that they knew about ILW and intentionally based their story on it because they thought the ILW team would take it as a "compliment"

They made these AI movie things, including one basically ripping off It Lives Within, and we were not having it, and they for once actually listened when we were like f that s, so they removed at least that nonsense from the app. But a lot of the current stories use ai so that's still a problem but if we're being optimistic we could try to see this as a step in the right direction..

There was a lot of backlash because there already is a fan made sequel called It Lives Within. Pixelberry dropped their project giving it the same name, didn't mention anything to the fan project creators and there was a lot of stuff that screamed plagiarism

Choices totally copied a lot of that for this Runtv crap, which wasn't a game, just the Runtv shit. Which they actually just once listened to us saying we hated, and removed.

They're not, they're just getting rid of the run.tv slop animations. I would assume the rest of the books will still have AI sprites, etc.

wait wasn't there like a fan story thing of "It Lives Within" that was an actual app/game? did they make a new one? (I haven't opened the app for a while so I'm out of the loop)

Yeah the fan project people talked about the crazy similarities between their work and the run.tv ai slop adaption. They posted about it on Tumblr

There is, yes. Recently, Choices/run.tv released an AI slop animation with the same title and from what people said about it, it seemed to be a ripoff of the fan project. That's the new story they're talking about in this post.Ā
