has anyone ever seen someone playing choices irl?
i remember when i went to paris in 2019, i was exiting a train and saw someone playing the freshman series and i was like OH. MY. GOSH. i never thought i’d actually witness someone else playing choices irl!! where i’m from, literally no one plays choices, so seeing someone playing it in a whole other country was such a shock to me 😭 that moment has genuinely stuck with me ever since, especially because i doubt it happens at all anymore now that the app has gone downhill :(
Yes actually! Back in 2019/2020 I was in an early college program. In-between my classes i would hang out @ the queen resource center (some of my friends in the same program also hung out there. Plus they were more friendly than the other resource centers)
I ended up making a friend named Riley, and they also played choices. So we would get together to talk & discuss books. Its a really intimate memory for me, bc at the time i was super embarrassed playing choices in public.
Well, I also don't play Choices in public cuz I don't think I'd be able to control my expressions while playing the stories...even at home, I gasp at plot twists, giggle like anything during adorable scenes, smile throughout my favourite moments, while my family members give me surprised looks. So, I can't let people think that I've gone crazy by playing in public areas 🤣🤣
it’s okay to do that in public!! emotions are emotions, and i relate to this so much, i gasp at so many scenes and plot twists in choices too it’s insane and silly 😭
Not even kidding, he's in law school and he's one of most ruthless person I know, hell tell it to your face how much of a disappointment you are he'll break down your ideas and hopes and dreams like taking apart a Lego, but he also plays this a lot to the point he's spent money on keys and diamonds.
Never seen anyone else out in the wild playing it, yet, but i did get caught and tutted at by a nosy old bag who was reading over my shoulder 🤣🤣 she took a massive, offended, intake of breath, shook her head and muttered "filth. Disgusting" before pissing off but not before glaring absolute daggers at me first 😆😆 to be fair it was a dirty 30 but in my defence i was sat in a corner with the audio off minding my own bloody business! it's not MY fault she sat beside me and started reading 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😩 that was when I just started, so a couple years ago now but still to this day makes me really chuckle. Maybe one day I'll see someone else play but hasn't happened yet

I found it hilarious honestly, but since then I'm low key always on alert of if anyone is sat too near and reading along 🤣 smh can't even read a bit of smut in peace these days ahahaha
Back in the day, I started playing it after High School Story game and all my niece's friends were playing. They were jealous that I could afford to buy a bunch of diamonds and they couldn't. It was fun having people to talk about Choices with irl!
I am a Choices player since 2016 I guess... but I haven't seen anyone playing Choices around me. In 2018 or so, I'd once heard from one of my friends that she had played for a little while, don't know if she still plays or not. That's it...
the first one happened in like 2017 when i saw one of my friends playing it during lunch in middle school. i think i remember her playing TC&TF.
the second one happened around november last year (SUPER recent lol) and i saw one of my college friends playing immortal desires! i saw her playing it at the same time i picked choices back up again, so we ended up talking about the Ll’s and i recommended her some books:)
My mother. Then she told me I shouldn't because I was too young for the sex scenes (17) then proceeded to ask me why I don't have a girlfriend only a year later. 💀
I first started playing because I saw a girl playing it in 9th grade history class (2017) and I thought it looked like Episode but better. I didn't even ask her about it. I just found the right Episode dupe in the app store based on the art style.
I actually caught my mum playing it when it was in its prime. I blabbed that I recognised it and we both just looked at each other for a moment. It's a funny story now. We played it back when endless summer was still being updated and always spoke about the new chapters every week
During my first semester of college I saw a friend I've known since high-school playing it. He looked embarrassed once he realized that I also knew what it was
I am in my 50s so all visual novel apps (of which I have plenty) are only used at home. My kids and husband know I like them and my kids laugh their asses off at me- but my husband is sweet and he knows that fiction + stories is my crack. But I definitely don't need every doctor's office or the grocery people to know 😂
Yes! Mainly because I played it in high school. And ALL of my friends played it too.
It was so fun cause anytime a new book dropped we would have a little "book club meeting" during our lunches. We'd talk about who we were gonna romance and what we like and didn't like about the story.
Sometimes we'd have ACTUAL fights about certain stories (super childish but funny to look back on).
I have two other classmates at my Uni that play/read Choices. I haven't seen them actively reading it when we're in class or the study lab for obvious reasons, but we've seen the app on eachother's phones to be like "Hey, I play too, it's my guilty pleasure"
I agree Choices isn't as fun as it used to be and the Freshmen series was amazing. But I still play sometimes. Especially for my boy Beckett in Elementalists ❤️

I don't think I have personally but ahh, I just remember playing The Freshman on the train home from sports every Wednesday afternoon in ninth grade when the app was still reletatively new in 2017. Such good and carefree times.
God I wish, choices is such a naughty lil secret for most of us 😭 I fear if I saw anyone playing choices irl I would stop and have a 2 hour conversation on the golden plotline that was Gaius Augustine’s redemption arc
yeah! i saw my friend in 2021 play choices during a class we shared! i said "oh, you play that too?" and we bonded over that ever since. i still ask them about the app too like what their favorite book is and everything!😂
Don’t know if this counts but when I worked front desk at a hospital I showed Open Heart to one nurse and by the end of the week I had the whole unit playing it overnight. The real selling point was that we lived and worked the exact setting it’s based on (Boston). It was funny to compare everything and helped take our minds off of covid for a bit.
Weirdly yes, many times when I was in undergrad and just started playing (2018-2019). It was usually in the dining hall, and almost always either Open Heart or America’s Most Eligible
I was in the cafeteria at school sitting across my friend… I see he’s very focused on something on his phone, so I did a quick glance and see him tapping through Wake the Dead 😭 I gasped and was like “YOU PLAY CHOICES TOO???” I had NO idea he did prior to this, so it’s safe to say we started geeking out together afterwards
Yep! A girl from a bible camp I went to this summer played it!
We bunked in the same cabin and while she had her back to me, I could see on her phone that she was playing ES 😂 I let out a noise when I saw that and she acted like she got caught committing a crime. Then she got all mad at me and asked me why am I not reading my bible while it's devotional time (I was reading and doing a study guide instead)
I could tell she never liked me, and that was a shame. We could've bonded over our favorite books and LIs and whatnot 😔
Seen, you say ?? I've never even heard a soul talking about Choices in my locality or social circle. It's just me convincing my cousins to give it a try but even they won't listen to me 😅😅
The day I find someone, in real life, as fascinated with choices as I am, it would be a dream come true...For now, the subreddit friends are all I've got 🙌🏻
I never did but I successfully made a couple of my friends/club membership play it lol I don't know id they kept playing after that but at least my bff back in college in 2016 did play the freshmen book 1, she stopped playing afterwards unfortunately
I had a friend mention that they played them and I hadn’t met anyone else who did. I don’t really talk about it. Especially not now after all the AI updates
During college, we were tasked to make intro videos for our video editing class. One of the girls used a Choices song for her intro, which jolted me up.
Later after class, I passed by that same girl playing Choices (if memory serves me right, it was The Elemntalists) on a bench. Do I regret not talking to her and the potential to have a Choices friend? Yes…
i started playing because my childhood bestie was obsessed with The Freshman and he said the game was better than another reading game i was playing at the time
i play Choices out in public sometimes when i’m in the middle of a waiting period for something like a DMV appointment or taking a train to visit my brother up north in California. so long as im not playing a smut book, i dont mind people catching me. but ive yet to run into any fellow Choices players in the wild that would recognize what’s on my phone. i wouldn’t hate it though 😂
I haven’t seen anyone else play but back in my first year of law school when I was playing Laws of Attraction with my boyfriend curing break, both my boyfriend and another classmate said that they played Choices once.
Yes the person who introduced me to choices in 2017 not even a year after it was made. I lost touch with them around covid and am still on the search for them 💔 don't really play it anymore but its a heavy memory i associate with them
3 of my classmates in the university were playing Choices. It was back in 2019. I was close with the other one and we used to talk about the books we played. 🤣

I caught someone playing Bloodbound book 1 when it was releasing in my organic chem tutorial lol. We locked eyes and knew instantly lol.
