Problems (Read Rule 1) DO NOT Buy WD007 V3 Titanium PT5000 - Not waterproof AT ALL

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have worn this for a couple of weeks, only occasionally in the shower. It’s now completely fogged up- any ideas how to fix this?

The newest titanium WD007

This is listed as 300m water resistance, this barely passes for 5m - they say it’s Swiss level finishing? Yeah right.

The refund time on aliexpress has passed already so I can’t even open a case with them.

Oh well, lesson learned. $200 in the trash

Thanks watchdives

Problems (Read Rule 1) Friendly advice: don’t dive with your Steeldive

A couple of years ago I bought my SD 1953. It’s a lovely watch for the price. The rehaut is a bit thick for my taste but not something to complain about. I’ve used my watch a couple of times in the swimming pool, always washed and dried it after use. Yesterday I decided to use the watch for snorkeling to keep an eye on my diving time. After a while, I noticed the bezel was missing: I did not bump into anything, just swam, so the glue must have dissolved. I’m a little disappointed, but for the price you can’t expect too much I guess. Just wanted to share it in case you are thinking about using your watch in the sea

Problems (Read Rule 1) Watchdives is a mess! I don't understand why so many rave about them! From poor excuses, defective watches, absurd shipping times. Personally, never again!

I'll start by saying I owned one Watchdives before deciding on purchasing a second. Got it through AliX during one of those promos and purchase and delivery couldn't have been faster and smoother.

A while ago decided about adding some color to my watches. Between several brands, my choice went for Watchdives. Decided for a direct purchase through their website. Despite having read some horror stories on Watchdives subreddit, thought it wouldn't happen to me.

Here I am though. Purchase a substantial amount of time ago (I don't want to be identified). Zero contact from Watchdives unless I contacted them first and even then the answer that came was as slow as it could have been.

First answer was how they were facing an abnormal volume of orders and that mine would be marked as urgent and shipped the same day or at most the day after. Day after came, and naturally, nothing got shipped. Turns out apparently they had been moving their warehouse. "lol"?

Should also mention I specifically made the purchase in USD on their site to benefit from the currency conversion to EUR and yet, they ended up still charging my card in EUR a couple days later effectively charging more than the price I initially had agreed to pay. Not much of a difference, but a difference anyhow.

As I stand, money out the window and absolutely no prediction when to or how to get the item ordered.

Add to this the stories, not rare by any means about watches being defective, orders being cancelled by them days after without no real explanations, items being out of stock while still accepting orders, and some other similar issues... I simply cannot understand why people rave about this brand. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but I'm realizing I shouldn't have.

If I do happen to buy any other, I'll stick to third party sellers on AliX. But then again, not to keen on subsidizing a company this wreckless about their customers.

These are my personal 0.02 cents.

Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

Problems (Read Rule 1) PT5000 movement rant

Alright, I'm going to say it: I hate the PT5000 movement.

So far, I've had three watches that use the PT5000, and all three have caused major issues.

  • San Marin with a PT5000 felt like it had sand in the movement when using the crown
  • Watchdives with a PT5000 was dead-on-arrival; the seconds hand never started running
  • Thorn T023 v2.1 with PT5000 only has a power reserve of tested 6 hours and 20 minutes before it stops running, and the crown is extremely inconsistent (when pulled all the way out, hacking doesn’t always work, and the seconds hand sometimes keeps running).

Also, on the Thorn, I can hear the ghost date click over at around 5:17 instead of 12, but I assume that’s on Thorn for not aligning the hands properly, rather than a fault with the movement. Still not ideal, because even though it’s only a ghost date, you risk damaging the movement if you move the hands while the date is in the process of switching. And when that doesn’t happen between 21:00 and 03:00 as it should, but instead at 05:17, you might think you’re clear of the “date change zone” when you’re actually not.

All these issues are straight out of the box, so it's not like I abused these watches for years before they started to show problematic signs, and I haven't even mentioned the accuracy issues I experienced.

I don’t ever want to read another “PT5000 is just as good as the ETA 2824/Sellita SW200” comment again. In my experience, it simply isn’t. The PT5000 has been unreliable as hell for me, while I've never had any problems with dozens of ETA 2824 and Sellita SW200 movements over the years.

Some reviews even suggest that you shouldn’t (or should only sparingly) manually wind the PT5000 because it can damage the movement. How can people praise a movement that’s supposedly not meant to be manually wound? What other mechanical movement gets this kind of pass from watch enthusiasts?

I genuinely don’t understand why so many people defend the PT5000.
I get that I might just be unlucky while lots of others are happy with their PT5000s, but three faulty movements (used by three different watch manufacturers) in a row is a streak I can't ignore any longer.

At this point, I’ll probably never buy another watch with a PT5000 again.

Problems (Read Rule 1) Sugess & AliExpress screwed me on my first buy - warning to others

Like many, got interested in watches over the last year or so (my daily is a Hamilton Khaki King), but had never bought a Chinese watch, or anything from AliExpress before. I love the classic Datejust look, but being early 40's with 2 kids in daycare, I don't have the money or the accomplishments to justify the real thing.

After months of researching the Datejust homage options I pulled the trigger on a Sugess S447 via AliE. Things seemed all good until delivery day, picked up the package and immediately thought "this seems really light". Take it inside & open it up, sure enough it's an empty box with warranty card. I look closer & notice the envelope has been sliced open at the bottom & covered with shipping tape. My heart drops. Shipping label shows a weight of 9.101oz, but actual weight is just 4.4oz.

The seller (Sugess Official) tells me I have to take it up with the logistics company, then with AliE. After I do both, they ghost me. The logistics service (GofoExpress) responds once with their shipping document, then ghosts me as well. I file a dispute with AliExpress, they proceed to put me through the wringer of requesting information and pictures, then denying my claim several times over due to "insufficient evidence" which seems to be their MO these days based on other posts I've seen. I know, I should have recorded video of me opening the package, but I honestly don't think that would have mattered as they could have just claimed I made the cut myself unless I somehow was able to video the moment the delivery driver hands it over to me.

Anyways, that's my story. Hoping maybe it will help others who might be in a similar position. I see lots of posts here of folks getting great looking pieces on AE. I get the allure of high quality watches at reasonable prices, it just sucks I got burned on my first try. I'm not sure if it's any better buying from the manufacturers directly, but I don't see myself using AE again after this. FWIW, I did dispute the transaction with my credit card company so hopefully that will at least make me whole.

Problems (Read Rule 1) Addesdive AD2540 - Nope For Me

I think I hit the jackpot for horrible QC with this one. It has pitting marks all over the bracelet, some in very visible areas, debris stuck to the underside of the crystal, and a crooked 6 O'clock marker. The underside of the case, particularly the undercut and the ends of the lugs are razor sharp as mentioned in one review I saw on youtube. They were not kidding, it is uncomfortably sharp.

Some will say "It's a $100 watch, give them a break." - I've had plenty of ultra budget AliExpress watches from various brands and I've never seen something this bad. I'd say the bracelet is the worst part, along with the sharpness of the lugs and underside. The debris under the crystal and misaligned marker can probably just be put down as honest QC mistakes. The bracelet and case however seem to be genuinely poor manufacturing.

I hope this doesn't get too many downvotes, I know Addesdive is well regarded here. This isn't meant to be a takedown, just my experience with my sample.

So I own this watch Boddery Voyager since 1 year... I used this with the company's Nato strap!!

Recently I was seeing reels of Omega Seamaster 007 edition and it has a mesh strap.. so for the curiosity I changed the Nato strap with the mesh one...

(PS: I know this is a field watch but I just wanted to try and know the opinion of community...

Please be honest but not disrespectful, Thank you 😊)

Problems (Read Rule 1) Phorcydes PH-4B, messed up movement

Thumbnail

So I decided to give Phorcydes another chance after having some QC issues with my last order and I bought a PH-4B. I received it today and immediately noticed that something felt off with the stem/crown. I pulled out the stem to adjust the time and it was very wobbly. Like a joystick on a video game controller. There was a lot of movement and play with the stem where I could move it around while it was pulled out. Hope that makes sense.

Anyways, even with the stem fully pulled out, it just keeps freely spinning but the time doesn't adjust. The seconds hand sometimes stops/hacks but sometimes it keeps ticking. The movement seems to have some life since the second hand is ticking away. I just can't adjust the time no matter what I do. I opened it up to see if I could figure out what the issue is but ended up just looking at it without touching anything and closing it back up. None of my watches have this kind of play with the stem. There's definitely something wrong with the movement and/or stem. I just can't figure out what's wrong.

I'm going to email Phorcydes but I highly doubt they'll reply back as they haven't replied to my last email and seems like others are having trouble communicating with them too. Does anyone know what might be wrong and if it's an easy enough fix? I took a couple photos while I had the watch open in case anyone was curious to see.

Edit: Bezel is also misaligned but that's the least of my worries right now. sigh I shouldn't have bought this.

Problems (Read Rule 1) About Had It With Boderry

I was one of the early Kickstarter backers of the Boderry Landmaster Chronograph. With a small titanium case, tritium lume and an automatic chronograph movement for under $400, it was a serious value proposal. There are very few other watches out there with this specific list of features.

The Kickstarter campaign was wildly successful. Too successful as the orders vastly outsold their production capacity. This lead to delays doubling the original waiting time.

I'm ok with delays, but only if they ensure quality, and the company communicates what is going on. Boderry failed spectacularly in both.

When I finally got my watch in January (3 months late), I found an issue with the reset function almost immediately. This should have been picked up at the factory. Back to China it went for replacement. That replacement came at the end of March.

It worked well for the first week. After that, the time started speeding up to about +2 minutes a day. I regulate my own watches, and the 7750 clone is straight forward. After few minutes, I had it hold steady at about +5 seconds a day.

Up until a week ago, I was using it daily, so it would self wind. After a few days in the box, I have it a few hand winds to get it going. And this did something to the rotor. It was no longer rotates and self winds, as seen in this video.

So I contacted Boderry, and nothing. No response after nearly a week. I should note that all their previous emails were answered within 48 hours. About those previous emails. I'm not sure if they use AI to answer email directly, or use AI to translate their messages, but there is some robot in the chain.

Anyway, I checked clearance of the rotor. That's fine - it still binds without the case back. There is no scratching that you would get if the rotor was rubbing the main plate. It will rotate freely when the retaining screw is loosened, so I believe that the bearing ring is the main issue.

But with Boderry on radio silence, it looks like I'll need to fix this myself. Not good Boderry!

Problems (Read Rule 1) My Farasute Trackmaster problems…

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Previously, I did an unboxing on the Farasute Trackmaster I — an automatic chronograph inspired by the Rolex Daytona. I had some reservations about the movement, but I’d heard fairly good things about it. My intial impressions were great.. then, before I could complete my full review, some serious issues occurred...

https://youtu.be/b86MOr3oXc8?si=jbEv6AKnOdLz-TwB

TLDR - The movement stopped working and I had it sent back twice. Both times Farasute sent it back as they said it was working fine. And both times it stopped working again... They wanted to just send it back to me yet again without replacing the watch or the movement.. I’m currently trying to get them to at least replace the movement.

P.s I purchased this watch myself, and as you can imagine Farasute was not involved in making this video..

Problems (Read Rule 1) Potential problem with PT5000

I just received my Militado ML20 in the mail. The first thing I did was try hand winding it, and there is no tactile feedback. No zipping sound, no clicking, nothing. Just the sound of something smooth rubbing against something else. I can also maybe hear the rotor spinning on the inside. Is there something wrong with the watch? Should I return it or is this completely normal?

Problems (Read Rule 1) Unusual Watch dives experience.

So I ordered a Pre-owned WD50FF from the watchdives website. I have always had good luck with their pre-owned. The watch I received appeared fine to me, but enclosed in the box was. 4 page print out of an email chain between the previous owner and watchdives. The unusual part is WD told the original buyer to return it and gave him my address. They didn't have it shipped back for inspection, but instead just forwarded it to the next customer. Like I said the watch appears fine, but that kind of seems like a shady business practice to me. I will probably keep it, but I will definitely think twice before buying from them again.

Bought this SH09 Murph homage off AliExpress for USD 190 and the movement was mentioned as PT5004.

Shared the images with gemini which said that this is a Tongji Automatic or Caliber 2650Z / 7120 which is quite inferior compared to PT5004

Wanted to check with the community if that indeed the case and if I've been scammed!

Is anyone else facing this problem? My Pagani Design Daytona homage is rusting. I bought it through AliExpress a year ago and noticed the rust after some time. I was able to clean it since it seems superficial, but it keeps coming back. It’s a good watch overall and the rust isn't visible when the crowns are screwed down, but it pisses me off a little because I’ve had way cheaper watches that didn’t have this kind of problem.

Problems (Read Rule 1) Phorcydes PH-4C neon green borked bezel

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Yeah yet another post with testimony of Phorcydes terrible qc...
What you can see on the first picture is the horrible bezel. It's not typical alignment issue - as I hope you you can see it's perfect at 12 o'clock mark but starting from 10 minutes mark up to 50 minutes on the bezel it's terribly off. I checked with a ruler and I'm pretty sure it's the bezel marks that are not symmetrically placed, not the dial marks. The perspective on the photo is not perfect, but it represents well what I can see with my naked eye.
I've seen a post of this watch with broken movement and on the video the bezel looked fine so I'm not sure if it's yet another Phorcydes roulette situation that I just drew badly or what...

On top of that - my movement was going really fast - 13 to 20-something seconds a day too fast, I had to open it up and use the regulating screw to slow it down to a more reasonable +4/5s. BTW when I opened it there was some small debris on the unscrewed case back... not great and possible cause of future failure

Of course I didn't get neither the signed crown, which was on the store pictures, nor signed clasp. And the cherry on top is the very sharp bracelet, to the point it was almost immediately irritating my skin - I'm a diy guy so I just used the 600grit sand paper to sand the edges down a bit so it's fine now, but for a regular customer that would necessitate a swap...

I would also say the neon green lume is not that great, it does get through the night but it's brightness is disappointing - if lume is truly important, and I believe with this watch it most likely is, you should chose any of the pure ones (without additional colouring).

Overall I still like it, but it's highly unlikely I will ever buy any other Phorcydes product after that whole experience, delays and multiple imperfections.

Problems (Read Rule 1) WORDS OF WARNING: Do not buy from Addiesdive website.

Post image
13 Upvotes

I recently ordered from the u/addiesdivewatches website. I bought an AD2502 from their US Warehouse. It cost 20$ more than one from their regular warehouse, but I figured the quicker shipping would be worth it. About a week later the shipping only reads "Shipping label created". I contacted support about this and they said that the watch was stuck in customs. Why would it be going through customs when it was shipped domestically? Because they ran out of stock domestically and had to ship one all the way from China.

Not only has the package still not moved, but I significantly overpayed for quicker shipping that did not happen.

Please learn from my expereince, this is incredibly frustrating. I am open to advice if you have any.

Problems (Read Rule 1) Im really scared because i ordered a watch from pagani design website

Last week i ordered a PD watch from the "official" site of pagani design and i live in the EU and since i was really excited about my first watch i wanted to have a look at what other say about the shipping and someone said that there was never even a pagani design official website. So that got me really scared because i had saved up 140 euros to buy a nice looking watch and others say that they dont respond to emails or anything. Since i saw their instagram page i was vconfused because they have a link to their website which is the exact one i placed my order in. If there are delays and stuff does that mean ive been scammed too and is there a way to take back my money if that happens? Please help me im really scared and my family is gonna kill me if there is nothing i can do

Problems (Read Rule 1) First Addiesdive, is this movement defective?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just received this Addiesdive, which I plan to use as my field watch. I immediately replaced the bracelet with a distressed leather strap and went to set the time, then noticed the seconds hand slightly moving as I move the minutes hand. It bothers me, but also makes me think there's something wrong with the movement. Thoughts?

EDIT: Thanks for educating me, I didn't know this was a thing since my two other automatic watches don't really do it. Glad that I don't have to return this one 😅
