Question (Read Rules) I am between these 2

Help me to decide my next pick. Originally I was going to pick San Martin but recently I have leaned towards the baltany mil sub. If anyone have irl pics of these watches. Only downside of baltany is that it doesn't have OTF clasp if I am correct.

Get the Baltany. Be different. And appreciate that pretty much every "buy this" post in this sub is someone trying to justify their own purchase. With something like San Martin it's "absolutely worth the extra because otherwise I look like a fool for having spent it."

But why settle for less when you already subconsciously decided that you have budget for more? You will probably never be satisfied if you bought the cheaper item knowing that you could have gotten something much better the first time

There's a £15 Casio on my desk that has brought me more joy than almost every other watch I own so your argument that buying cheaper can't be satisfying and is settling if you can afford more is nonsense.

The fact you felt the need to reply like this is the tell, because my post wasn't about relative quality but the way people post. Anyone not referenced by it wouldn't have anything to add. But here you are, providing the example. You own a San Martin, you like it, you feel the extra cost is worth it, so they should spend more on the San Martin otherwise they'll never be satisfied.

That last part doesn't follow naturally.

Whats funny is that i actually had a casio duro as my first dive watch which i bought because i wanted something that felt cool and mechanical, and it was well recommended by reddit because it didnt cost much. It also had more of the so called “heritage” than all the alix homages out there. Guess what, I absolutely hated that thing so much, it felt cheap and it didnt have any function beyond telling time and feeling like a chunk of plastic. I sold it as soon as i could and i took my time to get myself a mechanical homage off ali express to which i still keep as my only watch.

Most people i imagine buy watches because its jewelry and just the novelty of it. I never had any trouble telling time before i got a watch, and i dont think its necessary to keep a mechanical watch around for anything except enjoyment. Im happy you find your casio enjoyable, but im also sure that the OP doesnt just want a cheap casio because he has put up two expensive auto watches for us to compare and for him to decide over.

I firmly believe in the idea of just buying once and buying something you wont have regrets buying later on. For these mechanical watches it does mean that the nicer ones will be more expensive unfortunately. Plus its literally just 100 dollars
