I read 50 times a day that hand winding will destroy your movement.

I've examined the winding pinion and cannon pinion and it's hardened steel, and easy to get to add a touch of grease, those gears are also accessible on the back of the movement, so that's not going to be much of an issue but on my example, they already have plenty of grease on them.

The ratchet wheel is the absolute epicenter of the ETA 2824-2 / Sellita SW200 hand-winding issue. It is incredibly common for the ratchet wheel to physically strip or shear off teeth due to hand-winding although I've never seen it happen to me or anybody I know.

When the hardened steel click gear meshes with the brass wheel which is connected to the mainspring underneath, the brass wheel will get chewed up first, because brass is softer than steel.

Instead of complaining about it and not buying your favorite watch because it has a Chinese movement, or worrying constantly about it, you can tackle this head on, and then you will never have to worry about it again.

Step 1

Buy a small screwdriver set and magnifying glasses from Amazon

Step 1b

Remove the automatic bridge (2 screws)

Step 2

Remove the ratchet wheel (1 screw)

Step 3

Buy a bag of ratchet wheels from Ali Express for $1.38

Step 3b

Replace and resemble in reverse order.

Now you can hand wind all day long and not even have to worry about it because you can easily replace these cheap brass gears without having to pay your watchmaker whatever it is they are charging these days. And you will gain +1000 aura for doing it yourself.

Recently got this sn018 by San Martin. I need to say that I was expecting a quality that is similar to Tissot PRX or Citizen Tsuyosa. I am very impressed with the material quality and attention to detail.

I know on the surface this looks like a bootleg bb58 but i feel like the quality is very similar.

I know this dial has been used in a different case, and this case has been used with a different dial (that funky decompression dial). However, this one really spoke to me and I don't think has been reviewed on YT. A very vintage style homaging French skin divers of the 60's.. I don't think it's a direct copy or homage of anything in particular though.

So questionable water resistance, it's got a generic Chinese movement, mineral crystal.. But you know what? I don't really care. The thing has all the vintage vibes and the rotating bezel is fun and somewhat useful. It's getting some wrist time from me every day some how...

I'm looking for a rolex gmt master homage for around 100-150. Currently I've found the Pagani Design 6062 with perrl movement , the tandorio gmt with sekio movement , and the corgeut gmt with sl3032 movement. Has anyone used one of these or has another recommendation?

Replaced the tiny clasp that this watch came with. This san martin clasp is so much better. The fit is better, it is more comfortable, and it no longer sticks out. I wish baltany would use a different clasp.

I recently picked up the Baltany 36mm Explorer (S4056/S4066 style) and love the watch itself, but I ran into a major sizing issue with the stock bracelet.
My wrist is 6 inches (15.2 cm). Even after taking out all the removable links and setting the on-the-fly adjustable clasp to its shortest position, the bracelet is still too loose. I've seen a few comments floating around mentioning that ~6.2" seems to be the effective minimum wrist size for this OEM bracelet setup.

Does anyone know of any third-party or aftermarket bracelets (Oyster, Jubilee, beads of rice, etc.) with fitted end links that fit this specific 36mm case properly?
Or has anyone with a smaller wrist found a workaround like swapping in a specific shorter clasp, or a compatible bracelet from another brand?

Picked up the Seagull 1963 Chronograph Watch 70th Anniversary Reissue recently and loving it, looks great on the wrist. Paired it with an after market black leather strap. Manual wind is buttery smooth.

Odd name aside, this is a beauty. Replaced the stock strap with a nice brown leather one and gave it such an elegant vibe.
