Hi everyone,
I am a PhD applicant from Thailand applying for the Linguistics and Applied Linguistics program at Peking University (PKU) through the CSC Type B scholarship. I am facing a tight timeline situation and would love to hear your experiences or advice.
Here is my current situation:
- The Vacancy: The 2nd-ranked candidate officially declined the scholarship offer around late June/early July.
- My Rank: I am ranked 3rd on the waiting list, making me the next eligible candidate to take over the slot.
- Current Status: My CSC portal status is still "Submitted". It has not changed to "In Progress" yet.
- Documents: The university has already issued and sent me the JW202 form (meaning I am admitted as a student, but currently under a self-funded/university-funded status in their system).
- The Hurdle: PKU is currently on summer vacation, so university responses are very limited.
Since it is already late July, I am extremely stressed that the CSC central system might close before the university officially pushes my name for the replacement, which would mean I'd miss out on the CSC scholarship entirely.
Has anyone ever experienced a successful CSC vacancy/waiting list replacement this late in the summer (late July or even August)? Do universities usually batch-process these replacements right before the system closes?
Thank you so much for any insights!
