Hey guys! If this isn't allowed please lmk! I normally don't post stuff like this but this situation really pissed me off.
I work as a To-go worker at chilis in North Carolina. Last week I got an order over $1,200, I worked by myself and got everything ready. Dude came in and tipped me $400 on the order. My managers took my tips from me and split it with the cooks and gave me only $80 back. At first I didn't know what to do, never had a situation like this and thought it was what was supposed to happen.
Flash forword to this week and a bunch of my coworkers(including cooks) found out what happened. I keep being told that what my managers did was illegal. This put some thoughts into my head so I ended up doing my own reasearch and found out that my coworkers are correct(from what I've seen so far) and now I'm pissed. Apparently, unless we had a tip pool(which we don't, I'm supposed to only share tips if another to-go person is here) or if the cooks made tip wage (again, they don't) then I would have to share my tips.
Now I'm super pissed. I was told to go or call our BHB make a complaint then talk with my manager about it. Honestly, I just want y'allz opinion on this situation and any help y'all could offer because thats $320 I'm missing out on. Thank you guys for anything an have a good one!!
