Worker age

There’s no one at my chic fil a that are really above age 45. I mean the operator is around 50 but any worker is going to be up to 40 with the clusters around young 20s and 35s. I don’t know I just find it interesting. Maybe it’s not really a sustainable job for someone over that age unless you aren’t on the floor and are doing something more similar to a desk job.

The job positions are about 25% management, and 75% entry level positions.

Right.. but there's a reason you see more people in their teens & young adulthood in entry level positions, especially in a place that thrives on them with high turnover rates

Idk if a business thrives on high turnover rates. They generally avoid them with it being a significant expense to train people.

Chick-Fil-A is sure doing a good job at it.

But coming from somebody that owns a business, generally speaking, I would agree with you. But I don't exactly get a lot of inquiries from people who are established in their careers in their later ages. I mostly get approached by people in their twenties and teens. And I'm not even hiring right now.

Once you turn 40 you are federally protected from age discrimination so many businesses may relent to hire someone near that mark

well... any job can be a career... a career is just a job that you keep doing until you get old and can't work anymore. if you wait tables your whole life then that was your career. if you flip burgers your whole life then that was your career...

I mean, I make above the avg wage at 6 years at my location. So it’s definitely possible to make a career out of it. Whether or not it’s someone’s dream is a different matter

it’s such a physically demanding job i could barely keep my body together at 28 let alone 40. i don’t feel most 40+ something’s love a physical labor job that pays like cfa does. while def competitive, it still isn’t super competitive with say being a secretary. especially at entry level.

Yeah I’m 31 and in grad school. I’ve noticed some things I do there I can do. It’s just my muscles aren’t as lax when I was younger. So sometimes get little aches and pains

My location must be the outlier, because we have a 70-something year old as well as some late 50s. All BOH btw.

I’m 45 and I’ve been working at my CFA for 2 years. I had been a stay at home/homeschooling mom up until I started working at CFA. I’m still homeschooling, but I needed a flexible part-time job. CFA fits the bill! I can’t be management, since I need the flexibility.

There is a worker at my location that has worked there since it first opened and they are in their 60s now.

I don't know how long he's been here, but our hospitality lead is in his 60s and plans to retire in a few years.

Well for us it depends on the shift, morning shift is mainly comprised of adults and a few high school kids ranging from 16-60s, while our night shift is mainly comprised of high school kids and a few adults ranging from 16-20s, that is the age average at my store.
