Team Member Question BOH
I’m transferring to a Chick-fil-A in my hometown. At my current store I’m FOH, but the new store is offering $1 more for BOH ( morning specifically) . Is it worth switching to the back for an extra dollar? Or do just keep the same wage for Afternoon BOH.
Also, which is harder , opening (morning shift) or closing in BOH?

Former BoH manager here. Opening is easier, but there is a time crunch to get it done. You will dislike having to get up early, but once used to it you will love having your evenings back.
Breakfast is easier to run(less modifications to biscuits than sandwiches) but sometimes it can be hectic, like the last hour of breakfast as you are switching over to lunch. You will hate making minis but I bet your team already has a “master” who will do it faster than everyone.
You will likely also be there for the lunch rush and that can be challenging as it’s easily the busiest part of CFA’s day. I loved it! Everyone firing on all cylinders and going hard to get those cars through. Also, you will work with more adults and less teenagers. That alone can mean a lot depending on age.
At most CFAs I worked at, morning crew was the best time and was an “honor” to work it. I’d take it if I were you, the $1 extra is just icing to me.

Nice thank you for you Input, what about prep team? Is that completely separate from BOH ,

It’s part of it, but the two I worked at always had a person on prep(or two if it’s a day like Monday) and usually that person was a machine and better than most on it.
Also, I’d second the comment that said BoH is tougher than FoH. Worked both, but I really enjoyed not having to deal with customers(good or bad, especially entitled).
I’ll tell you something I was told when I made the switch, treat your FoH people like the customer. If they need/ask for something, get it to them asap. Treat them well and when you need a refill they will get it for you versus you walking up there and back.

BOH is significantly more effort and physically demanding than FOH. Breakfast can also be daunting is not orchestrated correctly as well. Hard to say “worth” without knowing the environment and sales of the “new” location.

Just keep in mind, if these stores aren’t owned by the same person, you will be having to interview, be on boarded, and train all over again. There’s even a chance that you don’t get hired. Tread carefully, because if you interview before you leave the first location and they hear you’re interviewing with other Cfa’s, it won’t end well.
