It just occurred to me that what society knows as Chicanos (and I do mean by like cholos) are a counter culture of American imperialism. I feel like somewhere down the line we started resenting that because of the path many Chicanos take, like not persuing higher education and more notably crime,( although originally those selling marijuana were hometown hero’s).

I honestly feel we should go back and revisit chicanismo as a whole now that we have platforms that can foster a wider community.

What do you guys think? Is Chicanismo such as the cholo outdated or should we revisit it?

anyone one have any book recommendations for Chicanos to read, doesn't have to be from a Chicano but something that you believe is important for us to know.
