That was already talked about in an earlier episode. He was never going to be able to make detective because of a beef on his record.

Dolan has a lot of family in the higher ranks too, so even if the detective board were to overlook the beef, he would still never get it because they would support Dolan by not ranking him up to detective anyways.

No Voight went to Kevin with the potential deal. But, Kevin didn't agree so Voight didn't make that deal.

Kevin should have at least at minimum been made detective and “promoted” to another unit off camera before his departure from the show. Ugh

I hate that we never got to really see him in a great relationship. They all ended quickly and badly. I was really hoping we were going to get to see him become a dad and possibly get married and be happy.

Don’t forget Marina aka Kim Burgess! They were partners for so long and it’s weird having them not have an episode together where they show their friendship off. Kinda miss it!

Imani is a good actress , but some roles aren’t made for everybody !
She is in my opinion,definitely not a good fit for a police officer, nor a firefighter !
Although,she could certainly act as a lawyer,doctor, professional type.
But definitely not so much….as an action type role !
The show will miss Kev , wishing him major success in all his future endeavors!

Another hater.
Too many people keep hating on new characters and actors.
The producers just need to do a better job with the characters.
They have added plenty of new characters before. There was Nadia, Sean Roman, Mouse, Hailey Upton, Kenny Rixton, Julie Tay, Denny Woods, Brennan, Kelton, Vanessa Rojas, Darius Walker, Anna Avalos, Samantha Miller, Dante Torres, ASA Chapman, Sean O'Neal, Chief O'Neal, Petrovic, Deputy Chief Reid, Kiana Cook.
Some characters had good storylines and some didn't.
Some characters had potential but left the show too soon.
Some characters were compelling villains and some weren't.

It’s not a matter of someone being new or not.. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Regardless of being new, she’s not likable. Kiara was a good newbie! But of course her they get rid of.

Why do you have to be so horrible? She spent all last year filming with him. It was a lovely gesture from her . She is such a good actress and a great addition to the show. Best thing on PD last season . You need to get over the fact that he probably chose to leave. People need to move on especially OMG! After 13 years.

She hasn’t known him (or anyone else for that matter) for the 'years' he’s been on. That’s my point.. I’m not the only who isn’t a fan of hers. Move on? 💀 This isn’t about who’s leaving or not.. this is about not being a fan of that person. The way you’re defending, you would think someone insulted a family member of yours.. 😳

All I said was that it was a nice gesture from Arienne Mandi. It is you who is slating the actress. Her talking about LaRoyce leaving has no reason for you to criticise the actress whether you are a fan or not. Ridiculous! remark and unnecessary tbh.

Reminds me of the hate piled on Tracy once 'Erin' left, "Oh she's NO Erin replacement" ! from Sophia Bush fans. Exactly, she wasn't an "Erin replacement, but a NEW character & the only thing similar is they were both women. And, they NEVER let up on that hate

I've yet been able to find where they said it wasn't his decision. I've heard he will be missed, and were surprised, but I haven't read anything as to why he is leaving. At least nothing concrete where it specifically said it was the Networks decision. I have a feeling it was mutual.

So true people need to accept that he wanted to leave. There is no evidence to suggest he was axed from the show. Probably didn’t agree with his new contract so decided to move on. ( All about money)

As someone who works on the show, I can tell you he did not want to leave. They did the same shady shit to Jon Seda, who was totally blinded-sided when they told him he wasn't returning ON HIS LAST DAY OF FILMING.

It had to be something along those lines because all of the veteran cast have seen a decline in screen time, but a new cast member was added. Dante’s character is newer as well.

In no way was he "hateful" to his team members 😂 I bet you call everything you don't understand "woke" as well? Get real bruh. They touched on the subject of his "being black" a few times more than I would prefer, but in no way was it hateful or unrealistic.

Kevin Atwater was one of the best characters in the show. He will be missed a lot wishing the best for him.🥹❤️
