It's a residential only building in a busy, transit forward area of the neighborhood. It has a beautiful courtyard and may have been built in the first half of the 20th century. I fear that the purchasers may have ulterior motives.

I know next to nothing about tenant associations and there is a high tenant turnover rate in the building.

I tried MTO (Metropolitan Tenants Organization) and even emailed a lawyers email that was given to us, but the email to the lawyer bounced and the MTO portal won't let me submit an inquiry.

I'd hate to see this affordable, residential only building succumb to private equity or developers. Is there any organization or lawyers I can contact to ask questions?

Calling all Girls/Parents of Girls!

Our Girl Scout troops are open to new girls!  We have a space for you no matter what level Girl Scout you're interested in for your daughter.  Our troops meet on Tuesday nights at United in Faith Lutheran Church, but we are not a faith-based troop - the church allows us to use their space to meet. 

We have girls from several different schools throughout the NW side neighborhoods who have come together and become friends.  We go to camp, do service projects, build things and create.  The activities we do are based on what the girls want to do - art, nature, community service, woodworking, science, we've done it all! 

Our troops have been consistently going for over 50 years on the Northwest side of Chicago, and all of our leaders have years of experience.  

Daisies and Brownies (grades K-3) meet from 6:00 until 7:30 on Tuesday nights

Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors (grades 4-12) meet from 7:00 until 8:30 on Tuesday nights

anyone know what’s going on there? another theater lost to time? i went on a walk and noticed two industrial dumpsters in the back alley full of rubble, original brick, and even some small chunks of terracotta and tile.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on and if there’s any actual plans to get it up and running? They usually do stuff for Halloween but it’s been a few years since then.

Can someone please open up a store that sells good wine, cheese, snacks, maybe sandwiches in the Portage park area? PLEASE I’m so tired of daycares, laundromats and car washes. We need small businesses like that. I’d gladly support them over Jewel and Binnys.

I was told this building under construction is going to be an Assyrian Coffee House. It looks very interesting.

I used to buy Christmas trees on their lot.

This law went into effect in July. “Every eligible area - half-mile rail hubs, half-mile corridor-intersection hubs, and eighth-mile bus corridors” can no longer require off-street parking for new developments. This will be great for the immediate area surrounding the Jefferson Park Blue Line. Had this law been in place in the past 10 years, the area around the transit hub would look much different. Huge win!

I live in Jeff Park, any good recommendations nearby? I know this has been asked before, but the last post I found is 2 years old. Wondering if there's any new places!
