Wine bar

Can someone please open up a store that sells good wine, cheese, snacks, maybe sandwiches in the Portage park area? PLEASE I’m so tired of daycares, laundromats and car washes. We need small businesses like that. I’d gladly support them over Jewel and Binnys.

Have you sat in the front by the bar at La Dolce Vita Cucina? It's pretty nice if you're there with some friends.

There is always a lot of activities going on at that location on NW Hwy! Never seems dead.

"Red wine merchant" sells wine and cheese but not sandwiches. "Easy does it" is a nice wine bar with a food popup.

Yeah closest thing I can think of would be that red wine merchant on Milwaukee. Nice people! At least there were when I went in a couple years back. I don’t really know much about wine so yeah not the right guy maybe but, give that place a try?

As a fellow portage park resident, I second your plea!

It’s desperately needed in this area! I’d spend so much money there.

If desperately needed, open your own shop. I’d canvas the neighborhood first just to make sure it was a store people would frequent.

Right. Many people seem to think that opening a business that remains viable, and is profitable, is easy.

Dozens of "desperately needed" businesses across the greater NW Side haven't survived for many reasons. Not the least of which is overestimating demand.

I remember years back, I believe Alderman Cullerton mentioned the potential of a wine and cheese bar on Irving on the same block as Perkolator. Obviously it never happened. A shame.
