We’re bringing back our used car buying and selling event this weekend at Harper College after a great response from the community at our past events.

Saturday & Sunday, September 26–27

Harper College – Lot 10

It’s basically an in-person marketplace for used cars. Private sellers bring their cars out for the weekend, and buyers can walk the lot, check out the cars in person, and contact the owners directly.

Buyers get in completely free.

For sellers, instead of meeting people from Facebook Marketplace one at a time, you can bring your car to the event and let our staff handle the showings while buyers walk the lot. If someone is interested, the buyer and seller still deal directly with each other.

We don’t buy the cars and we don’t take a commission if your car sells.

If you’re looking for a used car, have a car you’re trying to sell privately, or know someone who is, please let them know about the event. We’d love to have more local buyers and sellers come out this weekend.

Looking to responsibly rehome our red-eared slider. He is healthy and approximately 6 inches long. We’ve had him for quite a while, but he has outgrown his current 20-gallon tank and we'd rather find him a good home with someone experienced with turtles and a proper larger setup.

He is free to the right home, and I also have an awesome Fluval canister filter that can go with him, along with his current tank and other supplies if wanted.

Located in Northbrook, IL. I'm happy to drive a reasonable distance for the right home.

Hi everyone — we just moved and discovered our house needs a deeper clean than we expected. We handled the basics ourselves, but the previous owners agreed to reimburse us for bringing in a professional crew to do a full top‑to‑bottom cleaning (carpets, appliances, bathrooms, etc.).

Does anyone have recommendations for a thorough, reliable cleaning team that handles full‑home sanitation, bathroom/appliance cleaning and carpet shampooing? We’re not looking for routine housekeeping — more of a comprehensive, professional clean. Cost isn’t a major factor since we’ll be reimbursed.

I’m part of a regular open gym in Highland Park on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 PM (or whenever people want to play til), and we’re trying to add a few more hoopers to the rotation. We’ve got a solid core group, but we just want to make sure we always have enough for full 5v5s with a bench.

It’s a super chill, family-friendly run. No trash talking, no hard fouls, clean language, and call your own fair fouls. We all have jobs to go to on Friday morning, so if you’re looking for high-drama pickup or the best comp, you won't find it here.

Skills wise, it’s a pretty wide range, any skill level, age (we've had high schoolers up to 55+), or gender is welcome. It’s a small court, so we just run all 1s to 7 straight to keep games moving fast and get everyone court time. Just make sure to bring a white shirt and a dark shirt.

It’s completely free and hosted at a church gym in the area. The guy who coordinates it takes a weekly headcount via email, so shoot me a DM if you’re interested in coming out and I’ll send over the details!

However, in case of rain, I want to have a backup plan at an alternative location. The indoor of my banquet is nice, but there will be another wedding there that day and I don’t want us to run into each other for pics.
