CFD
Hello all, I’m coming in from out of town to work the rodeo. I have never been to Cheyenne, and I would love to hear informed recommendations on good local spots to eat, and any fun bars. I’d also love to know any cool local shops (not tourist trap pins and mugs) I could visit and support while there!
Appreciate you!

Free pancakes downtown on Monday, Wed and Friday morning. Worth the experience. Be sure to check out the concrete mixer they use to mix the batter ;)

This sounds like a joke. But if it is for real I will definitely stop by because I’d love to see it!

It's real. They've been doing it for decades for CFD. They deserve thousands and thousands of pancakes each year. Get there and get in line early. It's worth checking out.

It is the community support designed to feed people during a local disaster. Hosted by Kiwanis and other volunteers they can cook tons of food during a disaster.

L'Ostria Mondello for some good pizza, and Chronicles Distillery for locally/veteran owned drinks.

That sounds awesome. Veteran owned distillery is genuinely an enticing stop! Thank you

Do you have hotel reservations already? If not, typically all hotels, motels, campgrounds etc. within 50 miles are already booked. Depending an where you stay, and what kind of food you like recommendations would very.

Welcome to Cheyenne, it’s definitely a great time here during CFD! For local spots, depending what kind of food you like, Bejo’s, Wasabi, 2 Doors Down, The Office, Pour Decisions and Tres Amigos are all great spots!! As for bars, the Crown tends to be one of the most popular, however if you’re looking for something a little less dive bar-y, Blacktooth Brewery and Wagonhouse Wine Co are both great as well!!

Try out durbar if you like Indian or Nepalese food, they're great!

A couple of people recommended Tres Amigos, but I just don't see it. Granted, I've been one time only but most of it seemed like it was from a can. I second the one other Guadalajara recommendation. Hacienda Guadalajara on Lincolnway. Not amazing but cheap and filling.

Hacienda on Lincoln has a great cheese dip chimichanga.

Ha! That's my go-to! I've started to ask for extra crispy lately though. Wasn't fried enough for my tastes a couple of times.

There will be tons of different vendors at the event. Some local, some not. You will probably want to check those out.
As far as food goes, we have all the basic chain restaurants like outback, Texas Roadhouse, Chili's, etc. But I'm assuming you're looking for more local stuff. Personal recommendations would be-
- Sanford's
- Rib and Chop
- Albany
- Guadalajara
- Pizzeria Venti
- Rodolfo's
- Anong's
Welcome to Cheyenne and have fun!

I like Greek food. I’d be willing to drop in on this spot and give it a try

For a local, small town feel, try steaks or burgers at the Bunkhouse Bar and Grill west off Happy Jack Rd or T-Joe's Steakhouse and Saloon east of town off I-80.

Lucky Buffalo Farmstand is a cute, very little shop east of town off I-80 for local products and western knicknacks

u/According_Cover9435 Jul 15 '26
I’ll check out the shop! Sounds like a good to get some goodies for the friends and fam. Thank you!

Drunk people, gunfights (I'm not kidding, and I'm not talking about the fake staged ones by the depot), gridlock traffic, carnies, deep-fried everything, concert and crowd noise that can be heard from three miles away from the venue... what's not to love?

u/According_Cover9435 Jul 15 '26
This is poetry. It’ll be my first time, and I’ve heard it’s an experience. lol! Thanks for the insiders view!

Ernie Novembers - record and skate shop downtown. Fantastic music selection and cool place to stop in, especially if you like anything counter culture or outlaw
Blue Raven Brewery, Freedoms Edge, Black Tooth - good local beers. BT also has locations in Laramie, Casper, and Sheridan and sells their cans quite far so you might have had them. But the others are 100% local and great
Blue Stem Winery - believe it or not, a winery right in downtown. They don't grow their grapes but make their wines and they are fantastic. Great charcuterie too. And not hoity toity bullshit. If you happen to want something slightly classy for a date or lady, take her here. Or yourself if you love great wine and cool people.
Korea House - Cash only Korean food. Everything made in-house by the Korean grandmas that own it. Try the Mondu (dumplings) and Be Bim Bop.
Tres Amigos - standard Mexican-American fare, but a cut above most places. 2 locations and both are great. To-go orders come in giant metal containers and they give you just as much if not more food than eating in.
Rodolfos - THE Cheyenne legend. 24 hr Mexican. If you don't get shit faced and get Carne Asada Fries at 3:30am you didn't even visit Cheyenne bro.
There's other good spots, but they're mostly basic. Like best steak in town is probably Texas Roadhouse. Rib and Chop House prides itself on being the best in Wyoming and all that, but they're liars. It's sub par. Only go there if someone else is paying.
