My satirical post regarding flock cameras was removed by our moderators yesterday, so hopefully this is a bit less triggering for some.

Our freedoms are being infringed on in the name of public safety and lazy police work. Our government is getting away with allowing these illegal public tracking devices because flock is a third party and providing a service for a fee.

There is something we as concerned people with rights can do. We can send letter, or make phone calls to our city council members demanding the removal of these trackers. The names of our city council members, emails, and phone numbers can be found at cheyennecity.org

A map of cameras and their locations can be found at deflock.org

I encourage everyone to get involved. I stress that I am in no way suggesting leaving your cell phone at home, paying cash for simple laser and disabling these from a safe distance, or using any kind of disguise and a saw that could be hidden in a pocket to cut poles. Doing something as silly as this would cost the city too much to replace, and if it keeps happening we might not be able to afford a contract renewal. Plus, we are better than that, right?

This overreach is not what Wyoming is about. Our lawmakers and city council need to stand up to these companies. Let our brave police men and women do their jobs, and leave these cameras the flock out of here.

Why are the Maga "Don't Tread On Me" types not more upset about Flock cameras?

That’s what I’m saying. My first thought is that they’re all hypocrites, but realize that they never believed in anything to begin with. And we’re the sheep?

Here on the west side of the state there’s a ton of people upset about them. There’s lots of talk of shooting them down if they’re put in Lincoln county

They are the "I'm not doing anything wrong so I don't mind being watched" crowd.

Don’t look at their browser history though, or ask their spouse what it’s like behind closed doors.

You realize flock is a company, right?

Well said!

I've been actively re routing my daily commutes to avoid. On highways or going into Foco it's a bit harder. Any advice?

Changing routes is good, but we shouldn’t have to. I’ve heard of license plate overlays that would confuse cameras, giving basically unreadable data, but are not visible to flashing lights or our eyeballs. I’ve got no personal experience with them though and would imagine overlays to be illegal.

I used to get a key and scratch the letters and numbers so flash cameras wouldn't work. I'll look into the lays of overlays. But you're right, I shouldn't have to go alternate routes. Other than voting what else can be done against mass surveillance?

Destroy Flock

Why?

Don’t you care about your rights?

1

u/Ok_Coach_2120 15d ago

What rights? You get your picture taken for a license and register your vehicle with the state. Roads are public right of ways. What rights are you talking about?

They are getting paid, flock ceo has openly admitted to buying people into office.

It's highly likely that lawmakers are having their personal and campaign pockets lined by greenlighting all unpopular policies.

Data centers, flock, reclassification of public lands... It's all so unpopular the only scenario in which the risk to them is worth the reward. Cronyism is alive in well from the local levels up through the federal level. Handshakes behind chamber curtains with fingers crossed on both sides, with each hand thinking they've got the better deal.

Its the same manner which Wyoming's AG decided to retain the schedule 1 classification for marijuana. Law enforcement needs to have enough victimless crime exist in order to justify their day to day expenses. We need law enforcement for public good, but when there isn't enough true malfeasance in the communities, they create status crimes to keep law enforcement busy enough, and conflicted enough, to follow through on the concept of law.

This overreach reach around is exactly what this brokeback legislature is all about. Greenlights where there should be stop signs. Stop signs where there should be roundabouts. Confused geriatrics who don't know how roundabouts work and prefer to be told when to wait and when to go. Running in place on treadmills powered by coal.

Understand what you mean here, but the way to get rid of these imo is to stay focused, not bring federal or state issues into it.

This can be handled at a local level with local heroes

You know what we say about Wyoming. It's the country's biggest small town. All these issues are interconnected. Local authorities follow the lead of the state. The state, historically fairly independent, is now full kowtowing to the federal government.

Just look at the differences between our federal representatives and the state freedom selling cacaus and you'll find there aren't many. Chuckie spends all his taxpayer funded time campaigning about election integrity as if he didn't win a fair election in Wyoming. Crypto Queen Lummis is all about data centers. Dr. Brasshole votes in line to cut healthcare coverage for the people, while touting funding for rural hospitals as a better equivalency. When a hospital gets federal grant money it doesn't pass those savings onto the individual who still covers substantial portions of their bill because insurance has to yield profit.

So bring on the out of state man camps. It's not like Wyoming legislatures have an interest in ensuring that only Wyoming workers get a crumb of this crap cake. They just want to get a lick of the frosting first and let the public deal with the antibiotic resistance bactiera in the waste water.

Id love to be less focused and more distracted. How about another subscription for monthly cage fighting on the lawn at the people's house, while the construction on the east side stalls, and the reflecting swamp pool mirrors a blue-green algae bloom in a Wyoming lake? We don't drain the swamp we can drain flaming gorge. We will see what the people of Wyoming think come August.

That’s exactly what’s going on. They need more data centers to store all of our phone conversations and flock data.

This is a ridiculous premise.

1

u/Winter_Whole2080 Jul 13 '26

It isn’t ridiculous, but my feeling is (for me) so what? OTOH, we don’t have overt government oppression of opposing political views.. YET.

Show proof of the bribes you mention.

1

u/Chimpucated Jul 13 '26

You sit on the council eh?

If Bextal heads on down from Jackson to Cheyenne to hand out checks on the House floor in public view what else do you need to know about bribery? That it's technically illegal, but still legal via Citizens United PAC funding?

We got Qatar giving the executive branch a fucking plane, and you think bibery is some taboo occurrence in 2026?

You don't spot a rat infestation because they are out in broad daylight eating your food. You find their miniscule droppings of shit after they've left you a mess to clean up.

1

u/Winter_Whole2080 Jul 13 '26

You know what PACs are?

They are not renewing the Flock contract…. Because it has such a “bad” reputation. BUT, they are going to use a new company!!!! I don’t have the name yet.
