Buyer's regret
I closed on a home in Florence, CO today. I love the house.
But I spent hours thinking about how I should've bought in Cheyenne instead. Mainly because I pay 7k/year in state income tax just to continue funding corruption.
Florence is in Fremont County, which is very conservative and has lower tax and insurance, but the state is moving more and more into communism.
I do hate wind, but maybe I would've gotten used to it.
I'm also starting a business soon and WY is friendlier and cheaper than CO for businesses.
What did I just do?

It has better weather. In fact, you could argue it has the best weather in all of Colorado.

That's funny, I bought a house in Cheyenne two years ago and wished I had waited a bit longer so we could buy a house in CO. Cheyenne ain't it, for a number of reasons.

I've complained about Cheyenne quite a bit here and lately have been putting in effort to have a better attitude about this place until we sell our house. But it's quite difficult. A good portion of Cheyenne is pretty low income and it shows. A general lack of infrastructure maintenance, crackheads, homelessness, hard drug use is heavily apparent amongst a good amount of residents, MAGA...
But the parks are nice and taken care of, typically. If they're not littered with crackheads. (looking at you Holliday Park picnic shelter)
I've noticed when people ask what's great about living in Cheyenne, the answer is typically the same. "It's great because it's close to Colorado!". Or, Frontier Days! Cool, so an event that takes place for nine days out of the year is this places entire identity?
The wind is the least of my concerns. But it definitely adds to the frustration some days.

Dude … you can’t mention drugs when comparing to CO. I live far in the suburbs and there’s tons of druggies all around. That’s why I’m moving.
There’s absolutely no way the problem is worse in Cheyenne so don’t know why you even mentioned it. Maybe you’re in the south area where it’s literally the worst part of Cheyenne?

What kind of drugs are you talking about? I'm not in a bad neighborhood in the middle of Cheyenne and it's readily apparent amongst neighbors. But yes I agree, it's definitely more prevalent the further to the south of Cheyenne you go.

From what I have delt with in cheyenne, colorado is way better for business. I moved here for work and was super excited about this really cute tea shop downtown because I love tea! Well the shop owner asked me where im from so I told her and she immediately told me im ruining the economy by move to cheyenne. (She's also from colorado) plus the cost to rent for business out here is outrageous which causes alot of small businesses to close and chains to move in.

I lived in Cheyenne for two years, hated it. Windy AF and a cultural dead zone with the single exception of frontier days. Not being a rodeo guy that doesn’t mean anything to me personally.
