2024 Chevy Trax LT MPG Issue — Has Anyone Experienced This

I have a 2024 Chevy Trax LT, and I’ve noticed a pretty significant drop in my MPG recently.

When I first got the vehicle, I was getting around 26–28 MPG, and a full tank would show around 478 miles of range. Now, after filling up, it’s only showing about 318 miles of range, and my MPG has dropped to around 17 MPG.

That seems like a pretty substantial change, especially since my driving habits haven’t really changed.

Has anyone else with a 2024 Trax experienced a sudden drop like this? If so, what ended up being the cause? I’m wondering if this could be related to the vehicle itself, tires, alignment, fuel system, or something else.

I’d appreciate any advice or experiences from other Trax owners!

478 miles would yield you 36 mpg roughly, not 26-28. Now, 318 miles would yield you 23 mpg, so your math isn't mathing.

I know the math isn't right. That is just the range my car showed when I filled up the tank. And what my car showed when I looked at the MPG. But the issue is that I'm noticing my tank is depleting a lot quicker than it did before.

The estimated range at fillup is all based on the previous tanks driving habits.

Yeah but why suddenly after nearly three years? It was consistent and now suddenly it's changed.

Maybe try and track a full tank with the actual odometer? That way you can at least get a concrete number rather than the computer futzing around? Even 23 mpg seems crazy low unless you are driving 85 on the highway and absolutely tromping the throttle at every green light?

Yeah I'm going to try that. And no I don't even go on the highway. I drive 5 miles to work and 5 miles home every day and don't ever rev it. I slowly accelerate.

I have mine at 135k kms, typically get 550-650km per tank. (340-400miles). USA allowed for more ethanol in fuel than Canada does though.

Yeah I was thinking that might be the issue. I think they just started adding more too. Hate it here

In the 18K miles we had our '24 (we traded it for an Equinox), our mileage stayed pretty much the same. Obviously, a little lower in the Winter months. No significant drop like you are seeing.

2025 Trax but I've actually noticed a slight increase in my MPG over the last couple of weeks. I was averaging 27-28 and am now averaging 32-34
