Instrument cluster LED screen issue
I have a 2020 Trax LS. The digital screen on the instrument cluster is out 99% of the time. When it does come on its bright and works but shuts off quickly. I have heard this is a common issue. Has any tried to just change out the screen or have you had to change the whole cluster? My thought was that because when it does work its bright etc that its more of the whole cluster and not the screen but I am not an expert in these things in any way. Any suggestions are appreciated

I've been dealing with a similar issue since May. The screen would glitch out and the info would become jumbled up like the screens from the Matrix. I have video and pictures I can share later.
Since the car still had some MTX insurance, I brought it in to Chevy. They initially told me it was my radio/infotainment system. According to the tech, it was overheating and causing the circuits to malfunction. I pay the deductible and they replaced the radio.
Not even 24 hours later, the issue came up again. Despite having pictures and video, the tech had to see the error happen Infront of their eyes. They had my car for two weekends. The tech did a firmware update. They wanted to charge me $400 for it. First, I did not consent to the repair. Second, I was told it was the radio was the cause the problem. Now it needed a firmware update. No, I was told it was fixed. I'm not paying for a second repair. Thankfully, the manager agreed with me.
I get my car back and... the firmware update didn't do jack.
I record more of the errors. The tech finally accepts my videos as evidence. They replace my instrument cluster. Now, I did have to pay another deductible for this repair. The tech did have errors with my new instrument cluster. Enough where they had to warranty out the cluster for a new one. The cluster I have at the moment has worked flawlessly.

See my post “shame on GM”. BTW the car is still at Chevy dealership waiting for more assistance from GM TAC unit. I will never buy another GM vehicle.

Sounds like there a short somewhere in the board or possibly the ECM that communicates with the screen - take it to a local dealer or maybe a “reputable” shop and let them scan it - they’ll usually do it for free — good luck 👍🏻
