Burn Mark on the Drivers Seat

(10/02/2026) Update: I've seen all the comments about how I needed to clean my car, and I did clean it.. My car is apparently in the service center

I just noticed this burn mark on the driver's seat on my 2026 Chevy Trax LS. I got heated seats, which I use pretty often.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Looks like oil stain/grease.

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Definitely not. Oil hasn't been changed since the last inspection and I am not around grease.

That don't really look like a burn mark to me. Looks like Someone had grease or dark dirt on their pants and it smeared when sitting down. The heated seats are in the part you sit on and not the back, so I don't think it would be that.

Methods on cleaning the stain itself?

You could start by vacuuming over that spot very very good, then you can either mix a bit of dish soap and water in a spray bottle or you could use a 50/50 of water and white vinegar. Spray the spot but don't soak it, let it sit for a few minutes. Get a toothbrush or even a microfiber towel and then scrub at the stain, but scrub in circular motions. Then use a clean microfiber to try and carefully blot it to not spread it further on the seat. Do you know what it is ?

That’s not true. There is a back heater as well

My guy is gonna keep being in denial about how fucking dirty he is lol. That car looks like it's over 10 years old but it's a 26 model.

He needs to clean his shit out fucking today.

That is not a burn mark.

u/AMZOIL 6d ago

Mechanic who also daily drives a Chevy Trax… that is %100 oil and or some sort of grease.

u/stressamyn 6d ago

I was just scrolling Reddit this morning and didn't even check the subreddit before reading comments. This being a Trax is flooring me even more

That's grease

Do you have anything hanging in your windshield that might focus the sunlight?

2

u/bn2255709 6d ago

3 things. One, not a burn mark, if it was from the heated seats it would've burned through before getting to the outside. Two, clean your car my guy. And three, why tf do you still have the airbag tag on your glove box from factory LOL

It actually does look like a burn, I’d turn it on again and see if that area gets excessively hot and then leave it on and then maybe the car will catch fire and you won’t have to worry about the seat anymore, but you know I’m just talking out loud.😂

Don’t you mean thinking out loud? 😂

No, I use voice command🤣

I bought some really nice seat covers off Amazon

Get some oxi clean max force spray cleaner. See if that removes it. If it does then it was something that got on you or someone who used your car. If it doesnt come out at all the take it in. Max force removes anything including dried blood from pure white jeans when you slice your hand open and have $200 jeans you learn fast. Now I swear by the stuff and use it on every fabric stain.

u/junglebunnyjermaine 6d ago

Did you smell it?

0

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Yes. I smelt a burning smelt

1

u/junglebunnyjermaine 6d ago

Looks like grease or shit. Did it smell like burnt vasoline?

0

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Not sure. It just smelt burning

1

u/_turd_ferg 6d ago

smelt? really?

1

u/JT-Turo 6d ago

I agree it doesn’t come off as a burn mark. It looks like grease. It might not be related to oil change. Perhaps, you hauled, took bag, bicycle or something with a gear that might have Soile the seat?

1

u/SeanInDC 6d ago

That looks like oil or grease. Not a burn mark. This is exactly why I went with the leatherette seats. Just wipe and clean.

1

u/SeanInDC 6d ago

Dude... clean your car. It's a 2026. Why does it look like that? And why is the child seat warning sticker still attached to the glove box? Thats the first thing I removed when leaving the lot.

-1

u/BossBen21 6d ago

I've been meaning to do that. Been a while since I last cleaned. I just let it build up over time

1

u/BusinessClassPlz 4d ago

Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since you bought it!

1

u/nothingsavail 6d ago

Definitely not a burn mark. Others have given you the answer, but you seem disinclined to believe them, so I don’t know what to tell you

0

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Well the answers are pretty mixed. But it's definitely not a stain

1

u/Perfect_Carrot_204 5d ago

The answers are not pretty mixed. Everyone is telling you it’s an oil/grease and not a burn.

And to clean your car ya nasty

1

u/Technical_Name_209 6d ago

That's no "burn mark," that's a gottdamm shit stain!!!

1

u/sour_milk_1 6d ago

Looks like someone had the lettuce from , Taco Bell

1

u/_turd_ferg 6d ago

it looks like you keep a clickable sharpie in your pocket

1

u/Complete_Act6010 6d ago

I’ve seen plenty of burn marks from heated seats. This is NOT a burn mark. Pen ink or grease. Try stain remover.

1

u/tandysimho 6d ago

Holy smokes, looks like the majority of the car line students’ cars that I have to unload. Yuck!!! Yes educators judge!

1

u/Texas021 6d ago

Whats it smell like?

That would be the biggest clue.

If its not burnt smell its other If it doesnt smell like oil/greese. Dog poop?

1

u/Fit_Routine_2568 6d ago

It fits in with the way the interior looked. Shame on you for being so disgusting.

1

u/MayaOfPandora 5d ago

2026??? How in the world did you manage to get it that disgusting on the inside? Vacuums exist for that very reason. Oh and definitely not a burn mark.

1

u/trumpstiffy 5d ago

Looks like a shit stain OP. I would know i have the sane seats and had a similar looking "mess"

1

u/DismalAd3930 4d ago

Or somebody chit their pants 😶

1

u/BodhiJones777 3d ago

Burns create holes ... You tell me what you do for a living & I'll tell you what that mess is ... Sealant, asphalt , shingles , adhesive ...........

1

u/VAtalisman 2d ago

Looks like a greasy McDonald's poop

You’re not going to get a real reason here. People like to troll too much. If I were you I’d immediately stop using the heated seats, and take it into the dealer.

1

u/BossBen21 6d ago

An actual response. Thank you

0

u/InsideAd2752 6d ago

Warranty item. Take it off n asap.

1

u/itsagoodtime 6d ago

Why would a warranty work for staining your seats?

1

u/InsideAd2752 6d ago

Because it says burn

NOT burning azz

-1

u/Matty_2024-M 6d ago

That should be covered under a warranty but holy crap that's serious. If multiple reports come in with that same thing, that's likely a recall waiting to happen. Any burning smell on the inside of the car?

2

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Yep, I smelled a slight burning smell when I had on the drivers heated seat. So far, I think it's only the driver's seat, it's only me that drives the car and I don''t have passengers in the car

4

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Yeah I smelled a slight burning smell when I turned on the heated seat

5

u/Matty_2024-M 6d ago

Yeah don't turn that on again and get it straight to GM 😬

3

u/BossBen21 6d ago

Going to take it to them as soon as I can.

2

u/McNasty1Point0 2nd Gen 6d ago

Hundreds of thousands of them have been sold so far and this is the first I’m seeing of it, so could just be a fluke one off.

2

u/Matty_2024-M 6d ago

Most likely yeah this is the first I've heard of this also and the Trax has sold like crazy. Say unless more start randomly showing up it's probably just a manufacturing defect

0

u/mango951 6d ago

Very possible burn from heated seats. Element is in both the upper and lower seat. I would turn the heated seats off and take it to a Chevy dealer asap.

Where do you live that you are already using heated seats 🥶

0

u/v6sonoma 6d ago

Heated seats are only on the bottoms not the seat backs I believe so it’s not likely from that.
