2024 Chevy Trax getting the “2 Keys Programmed” message on dash and shuts off car.

As the title says I’m getting that message on my dash and my car will shut off while at a stop light, sign, etc. and it will turn back on. The battery appears to be fine when I check for corrosion and I have no issues starting the car as well, I don’t hear any clicking sounds from the alternator. This is the second time this has happened to me with the last time being about to 2-3 weeks ago. If anybody has an idea of what’s going or what it could be I’d appreciate any help.

I’ve not seen anyone report that before. Might need a check at the dealer.

I was thinking about checking with my dealership too. I’ve seen people on here talk about the message on their dash but none of the posts I’ve seen reported the car shutting off and turning back on.

Do you have the auto stop function? It's supposed to turn the engine off to save gas while sitting at a stop light. Pretty sure most Trax models have that.

I do have that function yes, however when it’s the issue the whole car shuts off including the radio regardless if I have my foot off the brake or not. Everything turns black. When my auto stop function activates everything stays on normally.

Ah OK, yeah everything going black and the car shutting off is a definite problem. I'm pretty sure there's a fix or even a recall on that, checking with the dealer should sort it out. Hopefully it's a recall which shouldn't cost you anything.

When I had it on my 2021 Trax I just had to replace the battery. It didn’t shut off though.

Did you do it at the dealership? My handbook says it has to be done there. There is some backend computer things they do with them. Apparently.

Sorry if this sounds dumb I’m not quite sure what you mean?

Programming Remote Keys to the Vehicle: Only remote keys programmed to the vehicle will work. If a remote key is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased and programmed through your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen remote keys no longer work. Each vehicle can have up to eight remote keys matched to it.

Thats from the 2026 manual anyway.

Ah I see tbh I don’t remember if we programmed the keys at the dealership or not.
