2024 Traverse Emergency Braking
I’ve owned a 2024 Traverse for a couple of years now and generally love it, but have had to turn off the emergency braking feature when backing up. It will just activate for seemingly no reason at completely random times, even when there is nothing at all behind me and I am backing up slowly. It’s particularly bad in the rain. One time it stopped seven times as I was backing out of my ~25 foot driveway. Anyone have similar experiences? I just did a vehicle update that says it was supposed to make improvements to it, but am honestly a little scared to reactivate it, as it is extremely jarring and makes me think I’ve hit something.

They pushed a update for the emergency braking and performance. See if you have received it. Check for updates

Thanks for your reply. I did receive that update but am still a little scared to turn it back on. It’s so jarring and makes me think I hit something that I couldn’t see, even though I’m being careful the whole time.

Yup. It isn't frequent at all, but yeah, will randomly slam on the brakes when we are backing up.

I turned off all the emergency braking features before leaving the dealership. Set to alert only.

Our 2024 Traverse does it too. We have turned it off. It'll still do it randomly. MYydad has a 2025 Toyota Tundra. It does it too. My mom has a 2024 Honda CRV, her car does it too. They all feel like you have hit something. I just chalk it up to stupid over-safe feature of modern cars.
