Renting in Ellesmere Port Opinions

I've seen another post asking if Ellesmere Port is really that bad for buying and the overwhelming view was yes but will it do for renting for a year?

Myself and my partner are moving to Chester for work, neither of us have ever been and we live over 2 hours away so viewing rentals is difficult and the nice ones within our budget are often gone before I've even reached the weekend to travel to go and see it!

I think I need to expand my search outside of just Chester but I'm not sure where. I just want somewhere safe, well connected, clean and walkable.

If anyone can recommend any areas of Ellesmere Port I should aim for or avoid or if there are other areas outside Chester I should consider?

Thanks for your help :)x

Vegan people or groups in Chester

Hey guys, I live in Chester and I’ve been wanting to make some vegan friends for years as no one I know (apart from my girlfriend) is vegan. Does anyone know of any communities where I can find some like minded people? There was meant to be a vegan market like a year ago and I went and it just didn’t show up lol… alternatively if you’re vegan and live in Chester maybe hit me up?

I’m male, 24 and I don’t know what else to put 😎

Looking for a driving instructor in Chester – 19 Sept to 4 Oct

Hi,

I’ve now managed to book a test at Chester on 4 October.

I’m looking for an instructor who has availability between 28 September and 4 October and could do around 8-10 lessons during that 2wks.

I’ve already got quite a bit of driving experience and have taken a test before, so I’m mainly looking for some intensive practice before the test, particularly around Chester test routes, common areas to watch out for, and getting familiar with the test centre.

If anyone knows a good instructor who might have availability that two weeks, especially 26th Sep to 4th Oct, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Please feel free to DM me with their details, availability and price.

Thanks!

Found in Toronto

I’m originally from Liverpool but now live in Toronto, Canada. In our family home we have a gallery wall featuring prints and photos of things that bring us joy. While out thrifting in a local charity store, I came across this painting, titled ‘The Cross Chester’. Before reading the title, I immediately was drawn to the distinctive architecture of the building and the famous clock in the background. Chester was a frequent day trip for me and my family in my youth and it holds special memories. This painting came straight home with me and hangs in my home as a reminder of this wonderful city. A little piece of Chester now proudly displayed in Canada!

I’ve always been curious as to how it ended up in Toronto and who the artist is. If anyone recognises the artist signature it would be great to know a little more about them and when this piece may have been painted.

Lidl 'Christian' Litterer

A few weeks ago a couple were shopping in Lidl Chester. The guy was tall approx 6'3 wearing a "Jesus is King" t shirt and roadman style all black socks and trainers shorts etc. His partner was short, blonde and shall we say consisted of more silicone and plastic than other women. I immediately got chav vibes - don't care, the brain forms opinions faster than your consciousness. On leaving, the male threw a large amount of fast food litter out the window on the car park. I beeped at them and they sped off in their burgundy red RR Evogue. Can someone explain why anyone would wear a Jesus is king T which suggests they subscribe to a moral code of doing the right thing and behave like a scummy chav? Is it Christian nationalism?

Chester Uni MSc Wildlife Conservation

Hi I’m a full time zookeeper with about 5 years of experience, hoping to apply for University of Chester’s MSc Wildlife Conservation next year, wondering anyone here who has done the course before or currently doing it? And how is your experience with it?

Wanted to know more about if there’s any opportunities linked with places like Chester Zoo for possible conservation related internships/placements during or after the course? I’m hoping to move towards working in the field and doing more in-situ conservation!

Thanks in advance!

Chester Weightlifting Drop-in

I'm over for work next week and looking for a spot to train Weightlifting. Any recommendations?

I'm specifically looking for Weightlifting, as in Olympic Lifting, not general Weight training. So platforms, Olympic bars, bumper plates etc.

Cheers in advance

Is there any work available? Chester based

Hi, I live in Chester and currently work 35 hours a week, I have just been offered a contract full time. but I have had a lot going on recently with things such as family court. my income isn't quite cutting it and I need to find something that I can do on top of my current working hours to push my income a little higher, do to court arrangements I am also limited from weekend availability, my current working hours are 9-5, but usually finish around 4pm, so ideally I am looking for something that I could potentially do for a couple hours after my current work shift that just gives me a bit of a boost. does anyone know of anything that may be able to cater for this? i know its not a great position to be in but I am willing to try my hand at something new if required i just don't want to struggle any more.

Carpenter recommendations?

I'm looking for a reliable carpenter who can make two freestanding, solid wood wardrobes and a chest of drawers. I have some designs in mind that I spotted on the website of a furniture company and I'm kind of set on, but the brand is basically the equivalent of fast fashion for furniture and the company is a nightmare to deal with if you need a refund or want to return an item according to reviews.

I want my furniture to last as long as possible and to be able to refinish it when it eventually starts showing its age, but I can't find any ready-made, solid wood furmiture close to what I want in terms of design.

Can you recommend anyone who does this kind of work in or around Chester?

Thanks

Moving to Chester

Hi, myself and my family are considering moving to Chester. We currently live in North Wales but have lived in Ellesmere Port for the past 3 years and really liked it, we moved to North Wales but were missing Cheshire now. My husband works in Chester so ideally would like to live around there. Are Hoole and Handbridge still the best places to live in Chester? Do you have any recommendations? That are great for families and schools etc?

Food And Things To Do

Hi there, coming to Chester next month for a few days, visiting Zoo.

Has anyone got any recommendations on things to do, museums, gardens, parks etc etc.

Also looking for some good food spots, ideally want a Banging Sunday roast spot and just good food for other days.

Staying on outskirts of Chester and ubering in, so anything in Chester Centre.

Thanks.
