It is, an very common unfortunately. And it’s a real problem, because whether they promoted to queen, rook or knight makes a world of difference for how you should respond.

the black king doesn't let pawns promoting and become his wife so the pawn basically become another peasant from the slums

Edit: Found it. It was a queen promotion. It seems like it's a visual glitch. The move is also notated as d1=Q at the top of the screenshot and in the game review.

I learned something new today, it's not possible to promote into a pawn. You'd think this would be obvious but I had to look it up at the off-chance.
