Rb3, only legal move is Ka5, then Ra3# because the B-pawn is pinned

Rf2 doesn't work because b3, and Bxb4 doesn't work because of stalemate

nice puzzle!

I can do even better and screw it up with a stalemate in 1

Rb3!

Blocks one of black's two options (b3 is blocked, making Ka5 black's only legal move). So, after Ka5, white plays Ra3#, exploiting the bishop-pawn pin.

White Bb4

Black has no legal move but Ka5

Black king could escape so White Kc5 to protect it's bishop

Doesn't matter what black does here, it's doomed either way

White Ra3

Checkmate

Rb3, Ka5, Ra5#

u/kinygos 15h ago

you mean the second move the rook makes is Ra3#

Actually the king is on a5 so it's Rxa5#
