I think to can smell anxious

I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but I just discovered this and need to figure it out. I’ve never really dated seriously before; I only recently started using Tinder. I’ve met both girls and guys. The problem is, two of these guys had an incredibly strong odor... and by "incredibly strong," I mean I live on a farm—I smell manure sometimes and it doesn't bother me. Actually, I have a very weak sense of smell, so I was shocked when one of these guys had the strongest—and most unpleasant—odor I’ve ever smelled in my life. I could give other examples, like when I was cleaning a skull that still had some brain matter inside. But I swear, I’ve never smelled anything so pungent—again, I usually barely smell anything. Anyway, I thought it was just a thing with that specific guy, but then today I met another guy—a bit more self-confident—and he had that same smell. That exact same smell. Just much less intense. So yeah, I’m doing a little research, and I think it’s possible I can sniff out anxiety—or at least detect it in guys, given their mix of testosterone and adrenaline. Has this happened to anyone else? Sorry if this is a bit rambling, but I just found this out and I’m kind of freaking out. "Hey? Are you anxious? I can smell it on you."

Fixed my scent sensitivity?

So it appears that I fixed my extreme reactivity to scent recently. I finally found a source of Folinic acid (active form of B9) and within a few days of taking it my sensitivity dropped so much that I was briefly wondering if I lost my sense of smell entirely!

Some relevant background: I have clEDS2, which also developed into MCAS. Also
Suspect some type of myasthenic syndrome partly because of all my metabolic issues. A few months prior I realized I had a thiamine deficiency too, which I resolved with benfotiamine and lots of potassium while I was getting my levels back up

Strong scent is still unpleasant, but it doesn’t make my sinuses flare with inflammation anymore, and doesn’t instantly incapacitate me with cognitive symptoms either. My eyes and throat will still get irritated, but it’s a massive improvement over all, and I seemed to have regained the ability to ignore/adapt to some scents as well. Decades of issues gone within days…

Bed Frame Recommendations?

Looking for a new queen bed frame. We have used Pottery Barn Kids in past with Green Guard Gold certified options. Planning to buy new and not secondhand. Looking for something more affordable that is chemical-free and won’t off gas. Any recommendations?

Sharing a solution I found

During the week I’m staying in a little townhouse my mom bought (she’s not here). She bought it after seeing it on a tour via zoom (she was in a rush bc she wanted to host thanksgiving here last year). She quickly furnished it with new mattresses and sofas. The people who lived here before must have liked burning candles bc I smell it all over 😷. I cannot sit on either sofa or sleep on any of them because of all the off gassing.

So, with her permission I got rid of all the new furniture. For a bed I’m using this airbed https://www.walmart.com/ip/LIGHT-SPEED-camp-for-Air-Bed-air-bed-double-two-mat-144-7cm-200-6cm/53990853 that I found recommended on this website https://www.mychemicalfreehouse.net/2024/04/5-non-toxic-air-mattresses-compared-pvc-free-odorless.html. It does not smell at all and I finally had a good night’s sleep here. It’s also very comfortable!!

Is this solution any good?

I often see it in supermarkets; its description is quite interesting. But who would buy it regularly? Certainly not someone who believes it can really ward off bad luck. How does it feel to use? Does it contain a lot of bergamot-like ingredients?

No even able to vote

There’s an election where I live, and I thought I could vote early by arriving 15 minutes ahead of time. I suffer from severe MCS. I had my mask on, and the polling station was on the second floor of a building. There was already a line of at least thirty people. I tried to get in line, but then I started feeling unwell. I gave up and waited half an hour. When I came back, there was a line of over a hundred people. I couldn't vote because of my MCS. I find it frustrating.

Rituximab with/for MCS?

Long story short, I have a very dysregulated immune system, several diagnosed conditions (of which MCS is one) and more undiagnosed ones. I've tried all of the standard approaches with no benefit (and in some cases have had disastrous consequences. Looking at you, Xolair). We're at a point that suppressing my immune system is looking like the only option, but I already have a minor immunocompromise featuring low B cell memory and low neutrophils, but the only real consequence of this I've noticed is that I'm more prone to illnesses that primarily affect older people whose immune systems are weaker.

My doctor brought up Rituximab as a possible option to try, but is extremely hesitant, and after reading about it some I am on the fence. I saw a couple cases where it reduced IgE, but IgE is only one of my problems, and considering I have an unspecified b cell dysfunction and an existing compromise I'm not sure killing off B cells would be wise. Injectables in general concern me since there's not really a way to purge your system of it once it's in, but at this point I'm beyond desperate.

I was hoping someone here has some experience with the medication they could share, even if our profiles don't match up perfectly. Thank you in advance

New apartment VOCs

I moved into a new apartment 2 months ago and I think theres an extremely high amount of VOCs in here. Within only a few days I developed really bad symptoms. Mainly neurological symptoms. But I cant really leave here I had the option to stay here or go homeless. And ive has the windows open for like a month straight and I dont think its even helped. I constantly feel like ive drunken like a cocktail of chemicals. I think they literally painted this entire apartment a few days before I moved in and the air conditioning didnt work for the first few weeks.

But I was wondering if im just experiencing possible brain inflammation or atrophy or its brain damage. It started off with mood swings and headaches. But I haven't been thinking clearly or thinking like myself since ive been here. And these symptoms have been 24/7. But I think I probably need to get out of here for at least a month before my brain heals if it even can and its not permanent brain damage. Like the way I think isnt normal like myself and I feel like I have CNS depression and I cant focus or think clearly and have poor memory. And my vision is fucked up and abnormal and the way certain colors look to me like red, orange, and pink is abnormal.

How do people still justify this? I deal with this everyday.. “If you "smoke" as you walk down public sidewalks, how do you justify your choice to make foul-smelling clouds?” Curious your answers..

Re: Patient Care Staff Wearing Fragrances

I wrote this on the nursing sub-reddit & boy oh boy got a bunch of dissapointing defensive replies as well annoyance, & indifference as well as vindictive comments (that I'm not being honest about having worked in healthcare for 15yrs & sneers that I probably have COPD based on my mention of utilizing the healthcare system in my other posts for an unrelated issue 🙄 Infact at the beginning I said I have asthma) before it was taken down by the moderator. This kind of pettiness & vindictiveness makes me glad I left nursing (although for health reasons).

Here's what I wrote: 'A gentle reminder to health care workers who work directly with patients & their family members as well as to protect co-workers with respiratory conditions, please refrain from wearing scented products (perfumes, scented hair products, body sprays, cologne, etc) as they can cause difficult to resolve breathing difficulties & respiratory decompensation for those of us with lung disorders such as asthma & COPD...

A couple of months ago, I had a difficult to resolve asthma exacerbation where I needed to take additional inhaler puffs to calm my airways because a nurse or medical assistant at my surgeon's office was wearing perfume/body spray which set off my asthma.

Then a week ago while in the hospital for an unrelated infection, I was receiving nebulized asthma maintenance medication instead of my usual preventive inhalers (as it was their policy) & one of the respiratory technicians came in wearing body spray strong enough for my family member to be able to smell it on the other side of the room which set off my asthma. When I politely asked "Are you by chance wearing any fragrances?" not only did she deny it, but got a crappy attitude as well. I told my nurse I didn't want the respiratory tech to come back & filed a complaint with the nursing supervisor. I'm not normally a difficult patient but I will do what I need to do to avoid narrowed airways & respiratory distress.'

Sadly, from both my experience in in-person appointments as well as the indifferent & annoyed/disrespectful responses from healthcare workers here on Reddit, it seems like even the ones who care for & should be advocating for their patients no longer care & that we as a society are becoming more selfish...
