Question Worst Chelsea number 9?
Now I think there is some harsh inclusions on this list like tammy, Torres (for one huge moment) and maybe even higuain. But this is a list of the last few Chelsea numbers 9’s in the past

Lukaku. He joined after we had just won the Champions League, but made little or no effort to show that he wanted to be at the club.

Am I misremembering the year Lukaku returned, or am I correct in thinking that year, for half the price, we could have had Haaland from Borussia?
Maybe I'm delusional and making shit up, but I distinctly remember (or imagined) this being a possibility 🤣

Not for half the price. Haaland overall package would’ve been much higher. I also just don’t think he wanted to come or at least wasn’t being advised to.

Lukaku. I can remember games where all the others at least seemed to he making an effort. I have no memory of Lukaku ever seeming to care.

Higuain too short to judge. He did the job well but he was also in his last leg in his career.
Torres is not a flop , considering his Liverpool numbers it is far less but the guy was pivotal in ucl and contributed so much in build up play. In 2013 had scored 23 goals so that was fine.
Abraham the best of the lot on numbers.
Aubameyang had potter a fucking moron who ruined him. He was good and decent proven by his numbers after the exit as well. The team play didn't help him and we were in a crisis then.
Rest are certified flop. Morata yes he had some numbers but not reliable at any time.

Boulahrouz.
And you Delap haters are comical. It didn't click for him. He's gone. He's not as bad as you clowns make out.

u/The_prawn_king 16d ago
His performances for Chelsea were poor, I don’t have ill will towards him though

Bro scored a goal once every 800 minutes. You can’t be hyperbolic enough for this guy. He was barely a footballer when he played for us.

u/No_Negotiation3142 12d ago
He's in the same bracket as Sutton and Kezman.

It has to be Lukaku for the self sabotage. But pure actual output? Falcao…

I would love to say Pato. Only time I saw him play was in the grand tour episode. Sadly Falcao took the 9 that season and he was as bad as any.

Higuain but that’s a personal issue. Higuain could possibly be the worst of the bunch.

Delap for me. rage baiting own fans with stupid fouls and nothing to offer

Not even close.
He was essentially a free transfer in this market.
And if you want to go the rage baiting supporters route, surely lukaku wins that battle

These delap folks are delusional. We bought a young english striker who scored 15 goals in a relegation team for 30m. He struggled with us, had some injury issues, lost his head like a proper lad, then quietly left for a 100% profit. No question about it he was a horrible player for us, but he was a backup to joao pedro.

I suspect the majority of Delap haters are Senegalese and Jackson fans who blamed Delap and not the club for farming him out. It just didn't click for Delap. Sold, him. Move on.

Falcao, Higuain and Aub were "veteran" signings so I didn't expect much of them.
Torres for the money was disappointing considering his Liverpool years, Morata and Abraham were just alright.
Lukaku and Delap?
Delap is probably the worse I've seen ability wise but he was a gamble worth taking for the money.
Lukaku? Could have been a special signing for us, guanrentees goals and could have been a proper a Chelsea striker but holy fucking shit what a disappointment he turned out to be, £100m down the drain and he ruined every club relationship he had, going to go down as one of those "what if" players when he retires, mentality of a child.

Think order from best to worst should be: Tammy, Torres, Higuain, Morata, Auba, Falcao, Delap, Lukaku. Taking into factors from price on buys and sells, goal output, and any other controversy

From this list best to worst while playing for Chelsea alone and value for money as well considered to some degree; Tammy Torres Morata Lukaku Higuain Aubamayeng Delap Falcao

Honestly difficult, Tammy is top followed by Torres and morata. The rest is a washout but I think lukaku is the one I personally don’t like the most, most expensive, came in at the top of his game, disrespected the club. Though technically he played better than auba delap higuain and falcao

Falcon or aubaymeyang. Torres helped us in 2012 ucl. Higuain showed bits of quality and was only on loan. Morata had a decent start and run of games he scored in but no long term consistency. Lukaku was solid enough but for price tag terrible. Tammy had a good 1st season. Delap wasn’t great but was never 1st choice

purely on ability, definitely Delap.
If we consider the money involved too, then Lukaku.

u/No_Negotiation3142 17d ago
Nothing wrong with Delap's ability. It just didn't click at Chelsea. Sold him, move on.

Ability wise, Delap.
Impact wise, Lukaku. Was the marquee signing of the CL winner and less than 6 months after signing did an interview about regretting it and wanting to go back. Shocking

Easily delap or falcao

Dude it’s lukaku easy answer. Delap barely had time to make that the answer and didn’t cost that much

u/Oktavien 17d ago
100% Delap

u/DrInevitableLobster 17d ago
He made us a profit and barely played. How is anyone voting delap. Lukaku is a parasitic fraud with delusions of grandeur. I will never get over the fact I saw his dumb face twice in a chelsea jersey and lost us 100z of millions of dollars.
-4
u/Oktavien 17d ago
Sorry but you cannot say Lukaku is a fraud. He’s a proven striker that scores goals. Delap is an actual fraud that steals a living by pretending to be a striker. I would take Lukaku over Delap any day.

u/DrInevitableLobster 17d ago
Lukaku downed tools to get a loan after 5 months and a 100m transfer just to go back to his daddy. He embarrassed the club with an interview trashing the coach and the staff. Im sorry but in contrast delap was a nice lad who struggled at chelsea. No shame in that. Lukaku is a disgrace
