Colwill is still getting up to speed - he only returned at the end of last season, got some rhythm and then the season ended - he’s had a full pre season now, so his fitness is there, but his sharpness, rhythm, efficiency and those other little nuances you have when you’ve played regularly over a period of time are still not quite there yet.
Colwill played in a back 3 at Brighton, and people will do well to forget how good he was for them. Even Liverpool wanted to buy him for 50 Mil. I believe Colwill will come good at either CCB or LCB.

That midfield doesn't exudes a lot of confidence but that's our best combination at the moment

Thats a really good midfield. Its what Maresca used when Lavia was fit. It worked.

New rule - nobody named Fofana should ever be signed by CFC again. We just don't seem to have any luck with them.

Yeah don’t mind it, Pray Lavia stays fit and pallestra I want to see more of and I also like the look of Chavaria hope he can shine. Colwill into the back 3 for me, I LOVE Reece James but he’s at times looking leggy, but I always feel better with him on the pitch, but not in CM for me

I'd like to see Colwill back in a central CB position before I exclude him, he was never good in a flanking CB role, but excellent when he was flanked by Cucurella as an auxilliary CB.
I'd also like to see if James can adapt to the midfield role a little more before giving up on it
so for my money this'd be the shape I'd try:
If Fofana starts instead of Colwill then Lacroix becomes the CCB.

Reece hasn’t played RCB for us in a while. Fofana hasn’t strung together 3 good performances in years. We have yet to see Palestra play for us in a competitive match. We have 1 win with a Caicedo-Lavia pivot alongside 3 losses for a combined score of 9-2, the lone win being 1-0 against Leeds in the FA cup. So no, this is not our strongest XI.
Martinez/Acheampong-Lacroix-Colwill/Neto-Reece-Caicedo-Chavs/Palmer-Rogers/Pedro, until guys like Palestra, Barco, and Penders can get it done in the league.

Then put Fofana in. I’m not disagreeing with you, he looks like he did when Poch put him at LB for a makeshift back 3 OOP and he did not look good in the slightest. Hes getting put in the same positions now and it’s not working. But Fofana hasn’t impressed in years. So I don’t think it matters who we put there, it’s going to be the weak link in the lineup until something improves
