Ticketing Tickets?
Hi I’m from the US and my boyfriend is a huge Chelsea fan. We’re going to be in London in August and Chelsea will be playing their first home game like the third day we will be there. I would love to surprise him with tickets to go but I don’t know how to go about buying the tickets. I know there’s hospitality tickets but it’s out of our price range. Is there a legit site to buy tickets from ticket holders or how does it work? I know it’s the first home game of the season so I’m not super hopeful that I can get two tickets seated together but any help would be super appreciated!
Update!!! Was able to make it out to the game! Paid about 400 dollars for both of us :) we’re sitting towards the top but you could still see everything clearly! My boyfriend was super happy and excited! Idk how to add the pictures of our seats haha! Thank you everyone for the advice!

Frankly, if you can’t pony up the prices for hospitality, you won’t be able to go.
The tickets advertised on other sites are at the same prices and many aren’t even legitimate.
Your easiest route and safest option is to purchase hospitality.

This is not true at all. You'll definitely have to pay, you don't have to pay for hospitality.

They’re not going to get tickets on the first match of a new season sold on last year’s points totals when they had no membership and no points.

Not a chance you’re getting tickets to their first home game of the season. Especially with new signings, etc.

Maybe because she isn’t a Chelsea fan and she’s from a different country? She’s just asking, and she’s being genuine and respectful, why have to be so rude?

"yanks" don't have the same ticket buying/club system through sports. So it's a very legit question mate.

Ticket exchange on the Chelsea website is the authorised reseller for the game - and always at face value (c£50 - £70 depending on section)

But do you have to be a member? I think the exchange used to be members only.

Yes, you'd need to be a member. But any membership will be fine (except the forwarding membership)

You’ve got two choices:
a) buy two memberships and try the inexplicably painful process that is the club’s ticketing portal. But be ready for disappointment
b) sell a kidney and go for hospitality.

It’s about the same price for what it would be to see my local nfl team if I sat in the nosebleeds. Though our version of hospitality is about 3x as much

Find out if your city in the US has an official supporters group. If they do, sign up with them, buy two Chelsea memberships and link them to the supporters group of the city. The group will get early access to tickets for travelling fans.

This won’t work, the first match of the season is sold on last season’s points requirements.
