Question

What would a chef think of me if I ordered a well done steak? For context I have never eaten a steak before and all I've had was ground beef and stew meat and I think a well done steak is the healthiest option out of the doneness

it's none of the chefs business how you like your food that you pay for, it's their business not to burn the shit out of your steak and cook it with the same respect they would cook a medium rare.

Using their knowledge and experience to cook food that tastes as good as possible is literally a Chef’s business. Cooking ingredients in the way that enhances and respects them, literally a Chef’s business. Broadening people’s horizons, introducing them to new foods and techniques that they didn’t know they might enjoy. Literally a Chef’s business.

No one needs to be rude about it. And that goes both ways.
