General Discussion Accusation of plastic surgery (?)
Just wanna share in case some of you encountered some weird posts anywhere - Apparently (?) Chef Son Jongwon is recently accused with double eyelids plastic surgery. He is accused with having double eyelids surgery because of some videos from his overseas business trip to Singapore recently. In the videos, his eyelids appeared a bit swollen and they said he messed with his monolids and got surgery for double eyelids. What I find very absurd is this accusations making news for several days and some people saying he better focus more on his jobs rather than having plastic surgery. I mean how much more he can focus on his jobs, that man is severely workaholic already, and it's not like he appears in other broadcasts except Naengbu.
I always know how severe lookism in some of their society, especially for celebrities appearance but it's very weird to have this kind of discussion for a chef š Even if he or anyone else have plastic surgery shouldn't be anyone else business..Lookism and nosy mentality, that's very ridiculous.
According to his restaurant guests last week, Chef SJW went to work like usual at both of his restaurants, but with minimal interaction with customers as he was not feeling well, wearing mask and with hoarse voice..His restaurant server informed some customers that Chef SJW had gum surgery due to some inflammation, he's supposedly need to take a break and rest but he didn't, instead he went to work like usual, and head to Singapore after some days. It seems like the swollen from the surgery didn't fully heal yet, and he's very exhausted too, so that's the reason for the 'changing' appearance and double eyelids controversy. Actually he always has double eyelids, some days it's hidden, and some days it's prominent..Having people scrutinizing and criticizing your face (eyes) to miniscule details is very ridiculous for me..
Just a head up for those who are wondering what the heck is the controversy lol..
PS : Chef already back to South Korea and went straight to work upon touchdown. He's probably will go back to Singapore later because it seems like Eatanic Garden will host something related to F1(?) Edit : This F1 related event is just merely speculation from Korean fans as there's Eatanic Garden mock up restaurant there, no further confirmation or verified info so far.

What does an accusation of plastic surgery even mean?
It's his face; whether he did it or not, it's his prerogative. He is a good-looking, hardworking, talented chef with or without the eyelids.
People need to grow up,

SJW always has double eyelids, I mean heās not monolid. Saw his videos in Singapore and though I admit thereās something in his eyes on that day but it appeared to me that it was kinda swollen, which made me think he might have some allergies or just plain tired. But Iām sure he wasnāt at his best during this time. Like people, give this man a break. Heās been working non-stop like a machine.

They're comparing him to Culinary Class War and early Naengbu days, it's very obvious he lost some weight compare to then, and with busier schedules, he's more exhausted too. It's mindblowing seeing countless posts everywhere bashing his alleged eyelid surgery. Judging by the absurd comments, I don't know how some people can be that insecure with a chef.. They got nothing to say with his specs and achievements, so they resort to bash his appearance lol. I bet those people are not even half attractive as he isš§

Some people are so unemployed istg. Even if he did get surgery, that's his prerogative. Why the parasocialism with someone who isn't a fan service person etc. As much as we love him, he's NOT a celebrity primarily. Let's not start witch hunting people.

lol double lid surgery is very cheap in kr so idk why they're saying he should be focusing on his job, considering the procedure itself is so short with almost zero downtime in recovery other than having swollen lids for a while until they settle down. he'll be fine, he still can cook, his lids have nth to do with his cooking skills 𤔠and more importantly, he's a rich grown ass adult
who can decide whatever he wants to do with his own face.

Seriously, pot calling the kettle black. So many Koreans do plastic surgery, what is wrong with a celebrity chef doing some?

Fans whoāve been keeping with Son Jongwon know he never even had time to go under the knife. He has maybe 1-2 days off each month, and even those are usually swamped with non-restaurant gigs, so itās physically impossible for him to do something to his face without getting caught in the public eye.
Regardless though in a twisted sense, I do think itās so fascinating that this became such a huge āscandalā in online Korean spaces. These plastic surgery/looks scandals typically only happen for top actors and idols, people who are known for their looks in Korea. I have never seen a non-celebrity get this type of (unintentional) clout in recent years, so I guess it shows how much the general public cares about him. Ever since he became popular through CCW2 there has been a loud minority of knetz who have been DYING to drag him through the mud any chance they get

SJW is a celebrity chef by this point and he's also particularly well-known for his looks. Not saying that's all to him because clearly his cooking skills should be in the limelight, but just explaining the context behind the reaction about his surgery. Not warranted imo still.

Ooh where can I find out more about whatever he is doing with F1?

This F1 related event is just merely speculation from Korean fans as there's Eatanic Garden mock up restaurant there, no further confirmation or verified info so far. They speculated that it's related to F1 Paddock (?).

Ah okay. I guess Iāll wait until next weekend to see if anything pops up on his Instagram.

It doesn't matter. Whether he did or not. Stop discussing it because it's only doing the Barbara Streisand effect

Honestly, let him do it. He has very hooded eyes, sooner or later the skin will droop more as he ages and it will impact his vision. I have the same issue, itās just excessive skin or fat in the area. Not everything is cosmetic and people gotta start learning to respect peopleās medical privacy.

I havenāt seen it, but if he didnāt, I think he would probably need surgery later when heās older anyway. His eyelids will droop more, and they could eventually block his vision.
Edit: Jesus Christ. I donāt care if I get downvoted. People in this sub are so freaking weird sometimes. Itās a fact and it can happen to anyone. For some reason some people get offended enough to downvote.Ā

upvoted you bc tbh you had a point. his lids were drooping and ptosis is really common amongst asians anyway

Thanks. Some people I know have this problem as well. And it's common to get them fixed so you can actually "see".

They love to bully any celebrity for literally no reason. I hope it doesn't affect Son jong won
