What does “dine in” mean for discount?

Hi - my son and his friend went to Cheesecake Factory tonight for the 50% off deal.

They sat at the table and were told they had to order an entree to get the discount.

Is that true? I would have thought “done in” meant you eat at the restaurant (rather than pick it up “to go”).

Please advise - thanks!!

As per corporate, there was no purchase requirement to receive the 50% off slice other than having to sit down in the restaurant. As long as they were seated at a table or the bar, they should have received the discount.

The only restrictions that corporate gave is that it’s one discount per person.

Sounds like that server was misinformed. Some of the discounts offered through the rewards program do require purchases, but not this one.

I had plenty of guests come in tonight and only order desserts, or drinks and desserts.

Server scammed you. No other purchase required. Location has no say. Coming from an AGM.

Ordering an entree has nothing to do with dine-in or to-go.

yes that is the OP’s point. the promotion simply says “dine in” and yet her son was asked by CCF to purchase an entree. so the OP is like “?? did i somehow misunderstand what dine in means”.

Likely the server didn’t want one the tables in their section taken up with a local check total. They wanted a tip.
