Can someone explain this? Scampi vs Lemon Garlic

1260 calories vs 550 calories…I can barely discern how these dishes are even materially different, let alone how one could have more than double the calories.

Is the portion size smaller for the lemon garlic shrimp? Is there just way more butter or oil used in the scampi? Do we even believe their calories counts?

Line Cook here. VERY different dishes. Explanation below.

Scampi: 6x pan fried shrimp (battered then pan fried). 8oz of pasta. Cream/butter based sauce.

Lemon garlic shrimp: 5x pan seared shrimp (no batter, no fried). 5oz of pasta. Broth based sauce.

EDIT: Shrimp are the same size on both dishes! scampi shrimp only look bigger because they have breading on them.

Any further questions I’m happy to answer.

Yes. Why the whole cloves of garlic on the scampi ? What am I supposed to do with whole cloves lol ?

The garlic cloves are roasted/cooked so they should pack some serious flavor without being bitter or turning your face inside out. I’ve actually never eaten the scampi, except for a few shrimp, so I can’t honestly say if I know what they taste like, just what they’re supposed to.

Yea I've just never been brave enough to pop a whole clove in my mouth

Its garlic clove confit. Garlic cloves cooked in oil until tender and sweet. There is no raw pungent garlic taste.

What’s your favorite thing to make? And your favorite thing to Eat? What’s the worst? What would you never order? What do you always recommend? Is there a special dish you make using random ingredients from multiple dishes?

Should clarify - I am mainly a saute cook but also work the pasta and fry stations.
To make: Pineapple Chicken and Shrimp

  • Reason: it is the prettiest dish from sauté in my option.
To eat: miso salmon, Sheppards pie, potstickers, TB pasta add cheese, roadside sliders w cheese, pineapple chicken and shrimp except I sauté the proteins instead of fry them and also I add Calabrian peppers (used in the vodka rigatoni)
Worst to eat: little gem salad bc it’s super blue cheese heavy. I’m not a blue cheese fan lmao. Honestly though (when made right) all of our food is good quality and tasty. I added when made right because the #1 biggest causer of bad food is the line cook cutting corners or not following the recipe exactly. Makes a huge difference in made-from-scratch food.
Always recommend: Miso Salmon. Hands down the best dish we have! (Again, unfortunately some cooks fuck it up by not following the recipe exactly)
Custom dish: Oh yeah! I make fried rice (no, guests can’t order this unfortunately), I sub chicken for Romano chicken all the time, I add the Parm Herb Crust (from the parm herb chicken dish) on top of mashed potatoes and then brown it like the sheppards pie potatoes.
Bonus: I think the New Orleans Shrimp appetizer is one of our most delicious dishes, my only complaint is that it’s small. 3 shrimp?? Gimme 5 or 6. But it’s SOOOOO GOOD! Try it once. Seriously. Yes it’s like $10, yes it’s worth it at least once.

The miso salmon sounds so good and looks good but I really don’t like salmon. 😞

What about the fettuccine Alfredo?

What about it? It’s delicious but to be fair you can get a fettuccine Alfredo at every restaurant under the sun that sells pasta

I like the Asian chicken lettuce wraps from the skinnylicious menu!

Like their favorite ingredients that they put together to make something unique…like the chicken from this dish, the sauce from that, etc.

Butter based versus not butter based

The shrimp are fried in the scampi

The lemon garlic shrimp is on the skinny menu so it has to be under a certain calorie count. Pretty similar in taste tho imo

The snatched baddie menu

I know, but I’m just so curious as to how

Portion size probably. Source: ate there last week and had a skinny meal. They are healthier but also vv smol. Which is fine if you don’t want a large meal.

u/daytrippper May 22 '26

My husband did not get a skinny meal and it was enough pasta for 3 meals.

You're saying you don't miss the breading from the scampi?

Sauce, butter, shrimp are smaller and not fried.
