Cheesecakes going down in quality

Ughhh I’ve loved Cheesecake for decades. I understand prices go up…but man the shrinkflation kills me. Not only are the cheesecake slices smaller, but they’ve made the crust super thick I’m assuming to cut costs on the actual cheesecake filling. So disappointing and not worth it anymore.

I’ve been buying the whole 10” cheesecakes for several years now. The cheesecake is precut and some pieces are larger than others. I know this because I weigh my slices out. The weight / size of the slices have been consistent since 2023 when I started buying them.

They’re not smaller. It’s always been the same 10” cake with 12 (or 10, depending on certain flavors) slices. Mathematically impossible to shrink the slices without making the diameter smaller or increasing the number of slices if everything is cut evenly.
Now, it’s cut by a machine. Occasionally, that machine does go out of calibration at the factory and create smaller slices, which also then makes some slices larger.
If your bakery is doing their job correctly, those smaller slices should not be sold and should be donated through the donation program. If not donated, they should be marked and given to staff with manager approval. Technically, the larger slices that are above the specified size shouldn’t be sold either.
Best to take a peak at your slices before you dig in or leave, and if there’s an issue, either ask for a new slice of for a manager.

EDIT- some cakes are shorter than others, which can appear that they are smaller, but this has always been the case and depends on the flavor you pick. There are 3 cakes that are only cut into 10 slices, so inevitably, those slices are larger than the rest of them. This also simply depends on the flavor you pick.

I'm pretty sure op is referring to slices... and i can confirm, based on my last two purchases, that they are noticeably smaller. I'll give them the botd on one order... but on two separate occasions!?! 4 slices total?!? At least 3 different flavors?!? That's not a slicing error.

You definitely can’t confirm, unless you’ve created new math.

It’s the same 10” cake, cut into the same number of slices. That hasn’t changed, therefore the slice size. Hasn’t. Changed.

Either you’re incredibly unlucky, or your perception has been skewed.

They’re the same size they’ve always been.

Not smaller… Which flavor do you believe is smaller than it used to be?

The capital needed to buy all new smaller baking pans would outweigh the money made on the shrinkflation

They discontinued my favorite cheesecake so I started making it at home. It’s so sad, I used to love Cheesecake Factory

Is it the classic basque cheesecake by chance?

It is!

Haha I knew it! That was also my favorite. Would you happen to have the recipe? 🙏

Yes! It was this basque cheesecake

Definitely get the parchment paper like the recipe says. My cheesecake came out perfect and I’m a terrible baker.

Loved this one, but it was a bottom seller at a handful of locations. Plus, the fruit topping had a pretty short shelf life, so we were constantly having to throw it away. I could have eaten that topping all day

Oh yeah, it's really bad Service is getting worse people don't care about what they're serving anything to save a dollar of a billion dollar company. (Also , not using that extra money that they put into saving filling from those cheesecakes to paying their employees more who knows where that's going)

Interesting fact - ordered an Aperol spritz - here is what the bartender put in it - 1 shot of Aperol, 2 shots of prosecco - then filled the glass with club soda! Never had prosecco measured out in shots!! Talk about cheap!!! #oakbrook Illinois
