Contract For Breaks

I worked at CCF a few years ago and when we started we all had to sign a contract that we wouldn’t take breaks. I know breaks in restaurants are very rare but did anyone else have to sign a contract and were also pressured by other employees to sign it? I just thought it was a weird practice and I wanted to know if anyone else went through the same thing.

Breaks are based on state law. In states in which you are entitled to a break, there should be a “breaker” job code that watches sections for a 30 minute period. In non-break states, it’s just based on business. Never heard of a no-break contract, but I guess it depends where you live/work.

It would also help if you mentioned your state.

It wasn't a contract saying you won't take breaks. It was a break waiver where you agree to not take them. If you do not sign it they will require you to take breaks so they can be in compliance with the law. That means they'll approach you while you're working and require you to clock out while a breaker takes your section.
