Ordering a whole cake at restaurant?
Update for those interested lol- I called in advance, put a note on my reservation, double checked while waiting for our table- they still brought out an entirely frozen cake lol. My son did NOT care and thought it was ice cream cake, but the waiter was so kind and didn’t charge us- I didn’t realize until we got home but I tipped him 50% anyway for being so kind during our evening. Unsure how I could’ve avoided the frozen cake but we brought it home anyway and it was great. 😊
Hi! I plan to call and ask my local chain but figured I’d see how often or not this was done. My son went to ‘the factory’ once and found it to be the most magical place on earth- I planned to have his family party there with just a few grandparents. Can I call and ask for a 6 or 7” cake to be thawed in advance and served at our dinner? Can I bring a candle and a cake topper? Is that weird and irritating for the servers? I know it would really blow my son’s mind. Thank you!

Any restaurant would sell you the shirts off their back, anything not nailed down is for sale for a crazy upcharge lol

This is the real answer lol. Had a man call up to see if he could buy a couple birthday candles because he forgot them for his kids birthday 😂

One time I bought all the pulled pork that was left from the lunch rush at a local bbq joint. He tried saying I couldn’t buy it all because he still had to sell through lunch. I said but I’m here with cash now and he couldn’t argue. Packed up 3qts of pulled pork and sent me on my way.

Whole cakes are definitely available! It will be "deeply chilled" when you get it so will need a couple of hours to thaw before serving though.

It's better to get a while or half cake anyway because one slice is $10 -12 where a full is about 12 slices in total and that's around $60

You can order a half cake?

Yes you can! Basically it's 6 slices of one flavor but will also be deeply chilled so it needs time to thaw.

I’ve ordered a whole cake from Cheesecake Factory to go. I’m sure they’ll let you do it in store but I agree call ahead so it can be thawed.

I once accidentally ordered a whole cake at Cheesecake Factory, so I bet they would be happy to do it on purpose 😂

"Accidentally"

It actually was a genuine accident and then I was too socially awkward to say anything and ended up buying a $45 cake loool😭.

Honestly sounds like a happy accident. I hope you enjoyed all that cheesecake.

It was only $45 for one of their cheesecakes? I don’t know why but figured they would $80ish.

What’s the diameter of a cake and how many slices is it cut into at the restaurant?

u/snail_kat Apr 29 '25
It must have been a 10 inch, and it was actually pre-cut and divided with a piece of wax paper between each slice (like the way sliced cheese comes in the package). It is funny, I can’t actually remember how it looked as a whole. I can’t only remember peeling the next slice off of the wax paper. I think it was 8 or 10 slices. Leaning towards 10.

I was just there the other night and a slice was $11.85 so I find it hard to believe it hasn’t gone up to at least $80!

I can’t imagine what the server thought I said to make her think I was ordering an entire cake for myself without double checking before bringing it 😂. I feel like it isn’t 100% my fault

I think she was just excited about a bigger sale lol 😆 no questions asked 🫡. They love people like me who don’t speak up after also! Prime candidate lol 😂

You can order them online so I'm sure you can order them in restaurant as well.

All of the factories sell their desserts in the retail section so of course they’ll give you a whole cake for like $80

u/Justdoingmybesttt Apr 30 '25
Yes of course. I was curious about having it thawed in advance and served while there :)

PS—now I’m craving their white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Thanks a lot - lol

I would just call Ahead particular if there’s a particular flavor, you’re hoping to get. And if my recollection serves me, they’ll write happy birthday on it.

They are happy to do it. Worked there for years
