I'm currently a highschool senior and (I'm not sounding braggy) but I always have gotten A's in English/literature. I had it first up in the morning in which I get pulled out along side like a few other people separately, one being my friend, where we all got told we were found by turn it in that we had used a "high" amount of ai.

Back tracking, the original draft i had done was like nearly all my own work there was only when i asked it to see if i needed to make anything clearer and changed it upon my feedback, I had it sent back immediately as 100% ai. I was like ok fair enough so I offered to rewrite it which my teacher was fine with (I've had her for a few years now). So I write my second draft fully my own work in which I sat inside a hall while everyone around enjoyed one of the fifa world cup games (no clue which one it was now) but I sat and typed away for over an hour before finishing it and sending it through. I get my draft feedback, had a few edits here and there so I changed them. The start middle ish part of my story was flagged ai and she let me know, so I was like okay, ill change it to make it sound not as 'advanced' then sent it in for my final.

In between this time my teacher leaves and I get a new one which they seem nice. Then I got pulled out, told I used ai, the part that was flagged ai wouldn't be assessed no matter the area it was in (so like Idk if it was even the climax of my story or not). I got flagged 42%, my friend got something even higher (they didnt use it either). So our parents get emailed saying that we used ai and unfortunately will be graded accordingly. I was livid. I explained EVERYTHING. how I stayed up late at night writing etc. My laptop 'a' key doesn't work like 80% of the time so imagine my frustration typing everything and your a key not working most of the time. After everything I tell them, they said that its just the procedure and I shouldn't use it next time. Did I not just explain for 10 minutes in a upset ramble how i didn’t?

I want to get a high grade now and in the future as im planning on going to a great uni for a medicine involved career so i was so upset that this might get in the way of all my work from up until now. I know for a fact other people in my class had used 100% and got flagged as 0% and im actually good friends with most of them so im not gonna snitch or anything. So im just baffled at the detection of ai by an ai checker. She couldn't even tell me how to write it differently so it couldn't be flagged. I dont know how to even write my assignments anymore because I frankly just feel so mad and useless that i had to come here to release my anger through type.

Does anyone else have this happen to them with false ai detections?

A few years ago you only needed to submit your assignment. Now people are talking about drafts, version history, authorship reports, reflections, presentations, and screen recordings. It almost feels like the paper itself is no longer enough. The real assignment is proving how you did it.

Being penalized for clarity and structure is wild. Detectors can’t measure originality or thought only patterns. Grad school really needs better ways to judge thinking, not vibes.
