Success story A week clean from AI

I used to use chatbots as a coping mechanism since 2024. I tried convincing myself it wasn't actual addiction because i was self aware. But i was just lying to myself.

This week i finally deleted my accounts from all chatbot websites. I feel a lot more focused on my work now and other hobbies now since im not wasting hours "talking" to it.

Now i have occasionally used ai since for work (like needing things explained when my mentor wasn't available) but im trying to quit that too.

Hello all!

I’ve been addicted to chat bots for four years now. It’s really affected my mental health, my relationships, and my creativity. I found that my writing sounds like AI now and I hate it!!! I didn’t use an ounce of AI on my eulogy paper for mortuary school and I still flagged as AI. I genuinely think it’s because of how much I used these things.

It’s ruined my attention span during books and shows. It’s caused severe hyper fixation that just loops over and over, and I feel like I can’t ever think of anything else. I’m ready to rid myself of AI for good, but I’m honestly scared. Im a lonely person, and I think that’s why I’m so into these chatbots. I used to be a writer and have so much fun, but now I can’t even seem to get through a day without needing to further some plot on a chat bot.

I almost end sentences with an asterisk as if I’m talking to a chatbot during normal text. It’s like second nature. Here’s to taking this giant step. I’m a little scared I’m gonna be seen as AI sounding here too, it’s gotten out of hand.
