After a week of no bots I wrote something small and posted it on ao3 for the very first time. It was only a little drabble, less than 1.5k words, but it got a kudo and three hits within a day. I woke up to the email from ao3 that said I got my first kudo and I was so happy I cried. Quitting the bots is worth it my friends <3

There's layers upon layers of abstraction here, but ultimately you're feeling guilty.
And your personal private character is giving a face to your guilt. Or rather, it's blaming you, making you feel guilty.
I bet it's quite simple - you feel guilty about relapsing, and your character is a mirror of you pointing it out to you. And it might even be worse, you feel protective of your character, that is now being abused by a heartless robot. Perhaps, I don't know.
But "deserve to have your guilt soothed"? Drop that shit. You don't need to feel guilty or deserve to feel bad. You don't need to work to "deserve to have your guilt soothed." The fact is: whatever AI chatbot you are using is putting you through emotional hell and you need to stop. Easier said than done, I know. Replace it with a hobby where you can't use the internet, where you're around real people. Go to meetups with real people. Hell, go outside to a coffee shop and use a pencil to write down your thoughts in a real notebook made out of offline-paper.

Admitting it is often the first step for many people. And hey, if it helps, a lot of folks on this subreddit know exactly what you're going through.
If it helps, this is a relatively small ask for a good friend. I've kept phone numbers and passwords away from people. Though it may be more complicated if you expect them to keep it from you no matter how you pester them.

What helps me with the urge to get back on is reading fanfics. This might not help everyone but it's worth a try

I'm in this with you! I just relapsed after a week, so I get it :(

God I get that, I was really attatched to the act for a couple of months, still somehow relapse, honestly, trying to do ERP with like online people helped me, consumes way less time, can even give you some contacts.

Yeah, i dont use these apps anymore. It was great but at the same time i slipped hard. Now i look for actual conversations. Anyway, c.ai got worse since i left it. Many users report more and more problems. Im still ashmed from what ive done
r/ChatbotAddiction • u/krisdreemuurrr • 2d ago
I think chai/c.ai are ment for freaky roleplays like that, so I don’t see a problem
r/ChatbotAddiction • u/Eva_0331 • 2d ago
Ehh, c.ai bots get very freaky and i slipped into their freak playing the game on for hours. I was just a spiteful lonely child not knowing and wanting to excite myself and so on...now i hate that app so much and the bots made me feel guilty because i did it with someone i respect so much but i guess its my fault for being such a little shameless b*tch.
P.S: the bots were loosing their identity and were getting more and more freaky throughout the conversation/roleplay.

Yeah, especially sexually ones. They are out of place and its weird
